Stagecoach, the country’s biggest bus and coach operator, is ready to help keep Britain on the move as people plan alternative travel to avoid the disruption caused by next week’s rail strikes.

Strikes are due to take place on 21, 23 and 25 June, with train services on 22, 24 and 26 June also expected to be disrupted.

Stagecoach’s network of 7,300 buses and coaches covers regions across the UK, including around 100 key towns and cities in England, Scotland and Wales.

Spike in fatalities means Devon becomes 2nd in UK for accidental drownings

A recent report from the National Water Safety Forum (NWSF) showed that Devon saw a rise in accidental drownings in 2021, meaning it becomes the second highest county in the UK.

In 2021, there were 10 accidental drownings reported in Devon, an increase of three on the previous year. The average age of victims was 55 years old, with the site of fatalities being split between the coast and the county’s rivers. Most victims were actively participating in activities in the water, such as swimming, surfing, or diving at the time of drowning.

With a 15% surge in fly-tipping on England’s highways, drivers are urged to be the nation's eyes and report incidents to catch those responsible.
