Call for witnesses after a fatal road traffic collision on the A38

Update: The Police have renewed their appeal for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

The dark-coloured Volvo left the Plymouth-bound carriageway between the Ivybridge offslip and Lee Mill.

Superfast model brain to predict flooding during heavy rain

Heavy rain has once again resulted in widespread flooding across the country. With climate change likely to cause further severe weather events in the coming years, methods of quickly predicting flooding will become increasingly important.

A team of engineers and scientists from the University of Exeter has developed a model, 1,000 times faster than existing flood prediction systems, which can rapidly predict when and where flooding will occur. The model uses artificial intelligence to ‘learn’, in the same way that biological neural networks in the human brain process data....

Lady killed in a landslip incident in Looe is named

Police have confirmed the identity of the person killed in a landslip incident in Looe, Cornwall on Friday morning was Susan Margaret Norman, a 68-year-old local female. The incident happened when a building, comprising mostly of flats, collapsed following a landslip at the rear of the property.

Her Majesty’s Coroner has been informed of the incident. The investigation into Susan’s death is being managed jointly between Devon and Cornwall Police and the Health and Safety Executive.

250,000 civil servants strike across UK on 2013 'Budget Day'

250,000 civil servants are on strike across the UK on Wednesday as part of nationwide action from the sector's union, PCS.

The strike relates to pay and pensions, with PCS members, who include customs, immigration, benefits and Jobcentre staff, wanting a 5% pay rise, or £1,200.

Police in Launceston are appealing for information to help trace a missing woman.

Joy Grigg, aged 50, was reported missing from her home at Tregeare near Launceston since early this morning (Wednesday 13 March).
