Toddler dies after being swept into sea

The two year old girl who was in hospital in Bristol having been swept into the sea at Newquay on Friday 19th August sadly died last night. Police have named her as Mckayla Bruynius.

The man who also died as a result of the incident has been named by police as Rudy Bruynius, Mckayla's father. His wife and Mckayla’s mother, Lisinda Bruynius, has made the following statement:

A woman who died in a road traffic collision on the A3079 at Thorndon Cross, Okehampton, has been named as 25 year old Marin Evans from Bradford, Holsworthy. Her family has paid a moving tribute to her.

Officers from the serious collision investigation team are appealing for witnesses to the collision on which happened at 8.35am on Saturday 13th August 2016. Man jailed following Looe coach crash deaths

A man has been jailed following a fatal coach crash in Looe in 2014 that left two passengers dead and a number of others injured.

Martin Chun, aged 60 from Whitestone, Devon has today been found guilty of two counts of causing death by dangerous driving, and four counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving at Truro Crown Court (Monday 22nd August).

Measles vaccination advice for young adults

Public Health England (PHE) is reminding teenagers and young people to make sure they are vaccinated against measles after new cases were reported across England.

A significant number of cases, linked to music festivals and other large public events, have been reported since June. This follows an increase in measles over the year with 234 cases confirmed between January and June, compared with 54 for the same period last year. There have been 36 suspected measles cases reported in people who attended events in June and July.

Business confidence amongst accommodation providers is at a record high for the summer holidays in a VisitEngland survey published this week. Rogue traders jailed for ripping off victims

Two rogue traders who conned vulnerable pensioners out of almost £100,000 have been jailed.

Following a joint investigation by Warwickshire County Council Trading Standards and Devon and Somerset Trading Standards, Hughie Fury, 33, of Gospel Oak Lane, Pathlow and Clayton Foster, 33 of Pathlow Park, Pathlow, Warwickshire were both jailed for two years at Warwick Crown Court.

The pair worked together to defraud elderly residents out of £96,200. Their victims will receive a full refund.

1,000 Office workers from Exeter have recently taken part in an EU referendum survey and the city was named as the most pro-brexit city on the list.

Office search engine FreeOfficeFinder asked 10,000 office workers across the country whether they wish to leave the EU, remain in the EU or whether they were unsure about it . The participants were from ten different UK cities (London, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Leicester, Bristol and Exeter) and the results varied massively between different locations.
