Philip Rodrigs, founder and CEO of new boutique investment firm, Raynar Portfolio Management, announced early last week that he has made his first hire and appointed seasoned relationship operator, Jon Garland as Head of Client Relations.

Since its launch in February 2020, Raynar Portfolio Management has grown substantially. Rodrigs has reported that the company has more than tripled the level of confirmed Assets Under Management in that time due to the successful launch of its first strategy, Raynar Enhanced Portfolio.

Rodrigs’ motivation for starting his own firm was to be completely client-focused, something he feels is vitally important. When launching his company, he wanted to be sure he was completely transparent. The name Raynar is a phonetic combination of the words “radar” and “sonar”, indicating that he and his team will search high and low for great investments using a considered approach.

Rodrigs attributes the rapid growth of his first venture to his client-first management style. The company is focused on creating a positive environment where client outcomes are key and ethical transparency is what propels the company forward.

Hiring John Garland to enhance this message and build upon the client-focused approach was a no-brainer for Rodrigs. Garland has a proven track record in building relationships and developing strategies to help boutique startup businesses grow. His previous experience as a partner with a previous boutique includes helping to grow the business to assets under management over £5 billion in just over six years. Garland has previously contributed to the success of three other boutique asset management firms.

Garland said, "I am genuinely excited about joining this fresh and ambitious firm, and to work with a manager with such an enviable track record. I look forward to working with clients as Raynar continues to develop strategies focused on client outcomes."

Philip Rodrigs’ decision to hire Jon Garland as Head of Client Relations has certainly turned heads in the investment industry. Both Rodrigs and Garland have top-notch records of success and many leading analysts and investment firms have confirmed that this move will afford Raynar Portfolio Management the opportunity to grow into a well-known respected investment firm in the U.K.
