The race is on to find the most dog-friendly business from the South West in the Kennel Club’s Be Dog Friendly awards 2014.

With only a month to go before the deadline for nominations, which close on 10th October, there is still time to shout about the places you like to eat, drink, stay, visit, shop and camp with your dog, as well as your favourite towns, beaches and places on the high street.

Since the launch of the Be Dog Friendly competition in July, the Kennel Club has been inundated with nominations for venues in the South West that have been going the extra mile for our four-legged friends. Dog owners have been impressed by companies in the region – including hotels, banks, coffee shops, high street shops, visitor attractions and restaurants – that are pulling out all the stops to be more dog friendly.

Caroline Kisko, spokesperson for the Kennel Club, said: “The UK is already behind our neighbours on the continent in terms of being openly dog friendly. The Be Dog Friendly Awards are the perfect opportunity for businesses in the South West to sign up to the campaign and adopt a dog friendly attitude, and for the public to nominate their favourite dog friendly places and give them some recognition for the fantastic services they offer their customers, both human and canine.”

To recommend and vote for your favourite dog friendly places or businesses, please go to www.bedogfriendlyawards.co.uk by 10th October.  Everyone who makes a nomination or votes will be entered into a free prize draw to win a £1,000 voucher towards a dog-friendly holiday, with runner up prizes of ten pairs of tickets to Crufts and Discover Dogs.
