Exeter School opens new indoor pool

Exeter School is celebrating the opening of its new indoor pool.

Chairman of Governors and former pupil Andrew King officially opened the pool during a ceremony on 28 June.

A generous donation from an anonymous benefactor enabled Exeter School to build the first-class, 25-metre four-lane pool for the benefit of Exeter School pupils and local schoolchildren. The Governors agreed to match fund the donation in order to integrate the pool fully with the existing sports facilities.

Maynard robotics team wins UK’s only trophy at Denmark Championships

“It was thoroughly well deserved,” said the Maynard School’s Head of Computing, Laura Burt, of the robotics team winning the UK’s only trophy at the FIRST LEGO League Open European Championship in Aarhus, Denmark over the weekend of 27-28 May 2017.

With 50 countries represented from across the world and a total of 118 teams, only five of whom were representing the UK, the Maynard Wine Gums was the sole all-girls’ team from Europe and just one of only two in the entire competition.

Exeter College’s Business Solutions team demonstrated again this week why they are the best business support team in Exeter again this week, by helping well-established digital marketing agency, We Love Social, find their first apprentice in their newly opened Exeter office. Exeter College MOT team set to demonstrate 'best practise' at industry event

Exeter College is currently celebrating a great twelve months providing MOT tester qualifications.

Attracting candidates from a pool of 400 businesses locally and bringing in technicians from as far away as Kent, they have notched up an enviable record so far with a 100% pass rate.

Rackenford Church of England Primary School in Tiverton, is the first local school to take part in the Ken White Signs (KWS) 50th anniversary competition.

The children were asked by the teachers to create a bespoke graphic representing a motivational message as part of the school’s aims to provide a stimulating, happy and educational environment, encouraging respect for others and teaching Christian values.

Exeter School is hosting a British Shooting Target Sprint on 10 June, open to all aged 11+. No experience is needed and all the equipment is provided.

Gorgs Geikie from Devon, who represented Great Britain at the London Olympics, is organising the 2017 Target Sprint National Series.

Exeter Junior School makes most of Opera-tunity!

Twelve of Exeter Junior School's Year 6 singers are looking forward to taking part in a production of Puccini's wonderful opera 'Tosca' performed by English Touring Opera at the Northcott Theatre.

They will be singing in three performances, on 23, 26 and 27 May, taking the role of the choir of the church of Sant'Andrea della Valle in Rome, where the story is set.
