The Student House Company brings award winning accommodation to Exeter

The Student Housing Company has opened the show flat for its latest purpose-built student accommodation project, Clifford House. The fantastic residence, which is being built by Kier will open its doors ahead of the 2019/20 academic year.

The Student Housing Company has invested £22m in the state-of-the-art residence, which will provide 312 student beds in a combination of high-quality studio and shared apartments complete with ensuite rooms. All bedrooms have been designed to maximise space and incorporate specialist lighting technology to aid wellbeing. Students will also benefit from extra-large, bespoke shower trays and high specification kitchens, complete with quartz worktops and dining tables.

The accommodation has been designed to reflect feedback from students across the UK by incorporating an outstanding range of communal spaces. Residents will have access to large external spaces and extensive common rooms including a gym, TV rooms, a social kitchen, study rooms and open plan study areas. The site will also incorporate covered bicycle racks along with long term storage space.

Ideally located within walking distance of the university campus and city centre, Clifford House’s elevated position offers exceptional views across Exeter and beyond. The development is part of a wider regeneration project within the St. James Ward which includes upgrades to the Exeter City Football Stadium, St. James Park.

Richard Brenner, Operations Director at The Student Housing Company, said: “We’re incredibly excited to be entering this important student city. We firmly believe that the right accommodation can make a real difference to students’ lives and we’re really proud to be bringing our outstanding offering here to Exeter. We can’t wait to start showing prospective students around!

“Purchasing this brownfield site has paved the way for extensive regeneration in this area of Exeter which we’re sure will enhance the local community. It’s been fantastic seeing the stadium works completed recently, which have added a new 1,600 seat stand, a covered away end and new changing room facilities for the players.”

Doug Lloyd, area manager for Kier Construction Western & Wales, states: “Exeter is a thriving city and we are proud to be supporting its student population by delivering this new 312-bed purpose-built student accommodation.

“Working collaboratively with The Student Housing Company, we are pleased to unveil the show flat at Clifford House which reflects the first-class facilities we have built. We look forward to delivering this high-quality scheme for students coming to study this academic year and beyond.”

The Student Housing Company strives to provide students with the confidence to expect the highest quality accommodation and service. At Clifford House students’ financial worries are kept to a minimum as all facilities and bills including water, gas, electricity, heating, high-speed broadband and maintenance are covered in the monthly rent. The company’s on-site management team is also on hand 24/7 to help students make the most of student life in Exeter, whether it’s through advising on day-to-day issues, implementing our award-winning Student Wellbeing Framework or creating communities in which students have the ability to thrive.
