Exeter Junior School's public speaking competition winners took part in the Rotary Club Exeter Area Youth Speaks 2020 at The Maynard School on Tuesday 28 January.

Every school taking part performed with confidence, the lead judge speaking of their "passion" about the topics they chose to present. These included "The Super Problem of the Super Trawler", "Can Theatre Exist in the Modern World?" and our own team's topic, "Should All Countries Follow The Same Rules on Climate Change?"

English Coordinator Rita Pettet said the team consisting of Chair, Alexander Ludman, Speaker, Toby Kenefick and Vote of Thanks Franklin Harreld were excellent.

"They spoke clearly, eloquently and with great enthusiasm. Their team work and commitment to their research was evident. Their parents, Headmistress Mrs Van and I were all enormously proud. They were wonderful ambassadors for the school.

"I am delighted to say that the judges thought so too and they have been chosen to go forward to the next round, the Youth Speaks District Final. Congratulations!"
