Pellow to leave Chiefs after 16 seasons

Ricky Pellow has made the decision to leave the Exeter Chiefs coaching team after 16 seasons to spend more time with his family and explore other career opportunities.

The proud Cornishman joined Chiefs in 2009 as skills coach after retiring from his playing career during which he played scrum-half for Cornish Pirates and Worcester Warriors.

Pellow said: “I’ve had 16 amazing years here at the club, so it’s an emotional decision to leave but it is one that enables me and my family to experience a new adventure.

“I’ve made some unbelievable memories as a Chief....

Grecians have to settle for a point at Vale Park

Exeter City were denied all three points at Vale Park as Idris Kanu headed home in the seventh-minute of stoppage time to deny the Grecians a hard-earned victory.

Matt Taylor’s men nudged themselves in front when Nicky Law side-footed home a well-worked goal in the 48th-minute and then they defended resolutely to keep Port Vale out heading into what, by the fourth-official, was deemed to be five minutes of injury-time.

However, with 96 minutes on the clock, the referee allowed Port Vale to take one more corner and from Tom Conlon's cross the ball dropped kindly for Kanu to...

Chiefs side to face Worcester Warriors

Ali Hepher insists Exeter Chiefs have been duly warned of the threat posed by visiting Worcester Warriors in tomorrow's Gallagher Premiership clash at Sandy Park (3pm). Worcester's impressive 44-37 win at Leicester Tigers last weekend certainly lifted heads across the division, not just in the fact that it elevated the Warriors off the foot of the table with their first win of the campaign, but the fact they were able to pick off their more illustrious rivals in their own lair. Now, they will head West looking to not only build on that success, but at the same time claim the scalp of the...

Exeter Chiefs maintained pole position in this season’s Gallagher Premiership, notching up a fourth win on the bounce against rivals Newcastle Falcons at Kingston Park.

Facing off against familiar foes - last season the two clubs met on four occasions - Rob Baxter’s side were given their stiffest examination of the new season yet by a resilient Falcons outfit.

Sam Simmonds, surprisingly left out of this week’s 36-man England training squad, gave a timely reminder to coach Eddie Jones of his powers, bagging two of Exeter’s three tries on the night.

He not only took...

Grecians come from behind to claim win

Exeter City scored their 1000th goal under Trust ownership as they came from behind to claim a 3-1 win over Cheltenham Town.

Michael Duff's side took the lead late in the first half when Ryan Broom struck, but a turnaround half from the Grecians saw Pierce Sweeney fire home before Jayden Stockley scored from close range to put City ahead.

Jonathan Forte then made sure the points were safe for the Grecians as he scored late with a smart finish.

The Grecians made one change from the 2-1 win at Mansfield Town last time out with Lee Holmes missing through...

Chiefs ooze class as they make it three on the bounce

It’s a sign of the times that even when Rob Baxter carries out a major overhaul of his Exeter Chiefs side, they continue to ooze class in this season’s Gallagher Premiership.

Not exactly the same vintage as their two previous wins against Leicester Tigers and Wasps, this season’s pace-setters maintained their perfect start - recording another five-point haul - as they overcame rivals Sale Sharks in a hard-fought encounter at Sandy Park.

Tries from Santiago Cordero, Jonny Hill, Jack Maunder Tom Lawday and Alex Cuthbert were the key highlights for the Devonians, while...

Perfect 10 for rampant Exeter Chiefs

Rob Baxter’s Exeter Chiefs side made it a ‘perfect ten’ as they saw off rivals Wasps at the Ricoh.

Maximum reward the week previous against Leicester Tigers, Devon’s finest again put up an impressive showing, securing six tries and putting them in pole position of the Gallagher Premiership after two rounds.

England stars Sam Simmonds and Henry Slade (pictured) both both bagged a brace, while there were further touchdowns for Santiago Cordero and Don Armand. Fly-half Gareth Steenson completed the job, finishing with a sublime seven from seven kicks.

Wasps, it has to...

City 5 Notts County 1

Grecians put in superb performance at St James Park as Exeter City returned to winning ways as they defeated Notts County 5-1 at St James Park.

City were 2-1 up at the break thanks to goals from Pierce Sweeney and Jayden Stockley before Enzio Boldewijn’s strike pulled one back for the away side. But both Sweeney, from the spot, another Stockley tap-in and an Aaron Martin header secured the three points for Matt Taylor’s side.

Skinner aiming to build on Tigers win

Exeter Chiefs must use their impressive win over Leicester Tigers last weekend as the springboard for another big performance ahead of Saturday's trip to rivals Wasps in the Gallagher Premiership (2pm).

That's the view of Chiefs lock Sam Skinner ahead of another mouth-watering fixture for him and his team-mates at the Ricoh Arena.

Skinner played a key role in helping the Devon club kick-off their new campaign on a winning note, defeating the Tigers 40-6 with a six-try success at Sandy Park.

Now, the 23-year-old will be hoping for more of the same against Dai Young's...
