Exeter Chiefs chairman Tony Rowe believes that the club’s impending takeover by an American consortium could transform the Gallagher Premiership.

The billionaire owners of English Premier League club Bournemouth have agreed a deal for the club, subject to the membership’s approval at an extraordinary general meeting on May 7.

If the deal is ratified, Exeter Chiefs will become the latest Premiership team alongside Newcastle and Bath to secure major new investment.

Chiefs reveal side to face Gloucester tomorrow

Exeter Chiefs' head coach Rob Baxter believes the efforts his players have put in this season in the Aviva Premiership means they should be crowned with a place amongst Europe's elite next term.

With just tomorrow's sold-out home date against Gloucester remaining for the Devon club, they enter into Round 22 knowing a Heineken Cup place is within their grasp. Victory for the Chiefs this weekend will not only guarantee them of the final qualification spot, but it could also see Baxter's side leapfrog their rivals in the league standings and potentially claim fifth spot for a second...

Kevin Barrett will say his goodbyes to life at Exeter Rugby Club this weekend, insisting the Chiefs are in "safe hands" as they look to further establish themselves amongst the elite clubs in both England and Europe.

After two successful playing spells in Devon, the 32-year-old scrum-half is set for a new role within the game as he prepares to become part of the Strength & Conditioning team at rivals Saracens from next season. He does, however, move on with plenty of happy and proud memories from his time with the Chiefs, insisting the ambitious Westcountry outfit will always...

Head coach Rob Baxter has delivered a glowing tribute to younger brother Richard, just days before he pulls on an Exeter Chiefs jersey for the final time. Saturday’s Aviva Premiership clash at home to Gloucester will see the 34-year-old notch up his 431st and last appearance for the Devon club, some 16 years after he made his first team debut in an away fixture at Fylde. It is, according to the Chiefs boss, an “incredible story” and one which underlines the impact the talented back-row forward has had on his hometown club. This weekend, though, the curtain comes down on a glittering career...

Richie to retire after Chiefs clash with Gloucester on Saturday

Richard Baxter will say an emotional farewell to life at Exeter Rugby Club when he runs out for his final game in a Chiefs jersey in Saturday’s Aviva Premiership clash with Gloucester at Sandy Park (2pm).

The long-serving No 8, who is poised to make his 431st outing for the Devon club, has decided to call time on his senior career and switch his attentions to life away from the game which has served him so well for so many years.

Since making his first team debut away to Fylde on October 11, 1997 – Baxter has established himself as one of the true greats of the club,...

The Exeter Chiefs will find out today if they have been named as a Rugby World Cup venue.

Last March it was confirmed that Sandy Park had been added to the long list of match venues for Rugby World Cup 2015 and an announcement was due to be made this morning by the organising committee.

Sandy Park, which was built in 2006 at a cost of £15 million, meets all of the Rugby World...

Report: Chesterfield 4 Exeter City 0

Exeter City’s 2012/13 campaign came to a disappointing end at the Proact Stadium, as hosts Chesterfield ran out 4-0 winners.

The Spireites hadn’t posed any more of a threat than the Grecians when the first goal came – a thunderbolt before Marc Richards headed in a second and Jack Lester converted a penalty that he won himself before the interval.

Lester completed a brace just before the 60-minute mark after beating the offside trap, completing the scoring for Chesterfield.

Paul Tisdale opted for something of an...
