Report: Exeter City 2 Bristol Rovers 1

A debut goal by Sam Parkin rounded off an opening-day win for Exeter City against local rivals Bristol Rovers.

City had gone ahead initially in the second half through captain Danny Coles, who thundered a header into the net.

However the Gas were level soon after when Eliot Richards diverted a cross into the net with a smart run.

Tour of Britain goes live again in 2013

Devon will be showcased to a live worldwide TV audience in September when the tenth anniversary Tour of Britain will be shown live on both ITV4 and British Eurosport.

It will be the first time that both channels will broadcast daily live coverage of Britain’s biggest professional cycle race, building upon ITV4’s successful coverage of the 2012 Tour of Britain, which was the first time the race had been screened live.

The Grecians ended pre-season in forceful fashion with a 7-1 victory away at Chippenham Town.

Goals by Jake Gosling, Matt Jay (twice), Tom Nichols, Jimmy Keohane, Ollie Watkins and Jordan Tillson made light work of the Bluebirds – despite City only leading 1-0 into the final period.

Exeter City has announced an historic commemorative match against Fluminense for 2014.
