Low signs for the Chiefs

Scottish international Moray Low says he is “excited” about the challenge that awaits him at Exeter Chiefs next season.

The experienced 29-year-old prop will join on a two-year deal from Glasgow Warriors and is the latest name Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter has added to his ranks for the 2014/15 season.

Low follows England international Thomas Waldrom in heading for the Westcountry next term, having spent the past eight years in Glasgow where he has made made 144 appearances for the RaboDirect PRO12 side.

His arrival at Sandy Park will be nicely timed as the Chiefs...

Chiefs side to face Bath

Frustrated by a last-gasp loss at home to Northampton Saints last weekend, Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter is hopeful his team will not suffer a similar fate when Bath Rugby rock into town for tomorrow's sold-out Aviva Premiership encounter (3.15pm).

George Pisi's converted score two minutes from time left the Sandy Park faithful - including Baxter himself - licking their wounds as they came within a whisker of claiming a prized scalp.

Not for the first time this season, it was yet more late heartache for Devon's finest to deal with in the top flight.

However,...

Young Exeter Chiefs Academy lock Will Carrick-Smith has today joined Championship side Cornish Pirates on a dual-registration agreement.

The imposing 21-year-old forward will head to the Mennaye to help alleviate an injury crisis which has robbed the Pirates of locks Neale Patrick, Gary Johnson and James Sandford in recent weeks.

Carrick-Smith made his Chiefs debut last season by scoring a try in an LV= Cup encounter away to London Welsh. Since then the London-born youngster he has featured seven times for Rob Baxter's side, including the LV= Cup games against Bath, Ospreys...

Tui targets Bath scalp

Hoani Tui believes Exeter Chiefs will have to be "on their toes" when they play host to local rivals Bath in the Aviva Premiership this Saturday (3.15pm).

With vital top flight points up for grabs as the season hits a crucial phase, Tui is well aware he and his team-mates can ill afford another slip-up following last week's last-gasp defeat to league leaders Northampton Saints at Sandy Park.

Currently the Chiefs sit in eighth spot, some seven points adrift of the last play-off spot which is currently occupied by Harlequins on 36 points. Bath, on the other hand, are enjoying...

Whitten demands fast start against Bath

Irishman Ian Whitten insists Exeter Chiefs can ill afford a slow start when they tackle local rivals Bath in Saturday's Aviva Premiership derby at Sandy Park (3.15pm).

Last Saturday it was Exeter's first half display which ultimately came back to bite them as they went down narrowly 17-16 against league leaders Northampton Saints.

And not for the first time this season, 26-year-old Whitten and his team-mates were left bemoaning a disappointing first 40 minutes as a key fault in their game plan.

“It seems to be a repeat thing against the top sides, we seem to sit...

Exeter Rugby Club chief executive Tony Rowe OBE said: “We’re delighted to announce another sell-out crowd here at Sandy Park, games between ourselves and Bath are always great occasions and I’ve no doubt this will be no different. “The fact it’s a local derby – and that we still have yet to beat...

Exeter Chiefs lock Romana Graham is to leave the Aviva Premiership club at the end of the season to take up a contract with French club La Rochelle.

The 27-year-old lock, who joined the Chiefs at the start of this season from Super Rugby outfit Waikato Chiefs, has agreed a two-year contract with the Pro D2 side.

To date the Hastings-born forward has featured five times for Rob Baxter's side with all of his appearances having come in Cup competition.

Chiefs lose by just one point in match against Saints

Exeter Chiefs 16 Northampton Saints 17

A bit like the battering the Westcountry has faced all week, it was only a matter of time before the defences of the Exeter Chiefs were finally breached.

With two minutes remaining at Sandy Park, Northampton Saints centre George Pisi crashed over for a crucial try – converted by Stephen Myler – to send the East Midlanders back to the summit of the Aviva Premiership.

Pisi’s late intervention brought yet more heartache for Devon’s finest as yet again they failed to finish off rivals ahead of them in the current standings....
