From St James Park to the Euros: Tracking Exeter City Academy Players on the International Stage

As Europe’s biggest stars regroup for international duty, national team rosters for Euro 2024 are filled with familiar names - few of which trace their beginnings to the lower tiers of English football.

Exeter City’s academy may not make headlines, but its graduates are making tournament squads. And while attention builds toward summer fixtures and early Champions League predictions on many of the most popular and secure betting platforms, another narrative deserves recognition: players who started at St James Park and are now representing their countries on the international...

Chiefs confirm Tui to depart

Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter has today confirmed that tight-head prop Hoani Tui is to leave the Aviva Premiership club at the end of the season.

The 29-year-old will join Lyon, the current leaders of Pro D2, on a two-year deal this summer after five seasons playing for the Chiefs in both the Championship and the Premiership.

Signed from Italian outfit Calvisano in 2010, the popular Kiwi forward has to date played 109 times for the Chiefs in all competitions, scoring six tries in the process.

A cornerstone of the Exeter pack since his arrival in Devon, Tui not...

Whitehead backs Chiefs to come good

Exeter Chiefs hooker Chris Whitehead knows the modern-day game has no hiding place, but he insists he and his team-mates will learn lessons from their recent run of defeats.

In what has been a testing block of fixtures for Rob Baxter's side, Sunday's narrow loss at London Wasps in the Aviva Premiership means the Chiefs have now lost seven or their past eight games in all competitions.

That sequence of results has not only see the Chiefs slip to eighth place in the current Premiership standings, but has also dented their hopes of qualification in both the Heineken and LV=...

Exeter City U21's beat Blackburn to book a place in quarter finals

Grecians into the quarter-final with win over Rovers

It was another famous night for the youngsters of Exeter City as they secured a place in the quarter-final of the Under-21 Premier League Cup.

City claimed another scalp and dominated the fixture throughout and were desperately unlucky to be the team trailing as Jordan Preston headed Rovers into the lead late in the first-half.

But quick-fire goals after the interval by Scot Bennett and Jimmy Keohane gave the Grecians the lead they deserved and a place in the last eight of the nationwide competition – and...

Mixed feelings for Lewis

Scoring your first try for your club is always a special mention, but Dave Lewis admitted his celebrations were somewhat curtailed by the fact Exeter Chiefs slipped to a last-gasp defeat at Aviva Premiership rivals London Wasps.

With just 70 seconds played at Adams Park on Sunday, the scrum-half spotted a gap in the home defensive line before scampering under the sticks to give his side a dream start.

The Chiefs built on that early score and by half-time were 13-3 to the good thanks to further kicks from fly-half Henry Slade, who himself was making his first-ever start in...

Chiefs defeated by London Wasps

London Wasps 19 Exeter Chiefs 16

Exeter’s Henry Slade may well be one of English’s rugby gems of the future, but today it was the wise old man Andy Goode who proved the ‘King of Adams Park’ as he settled an enthralling Aviva Premiership encounter.

With the final kick of the game, the experienced No.10 dispatched a sublime 40-metre drop-goal to condemn Rob Baxter’s visiting Chiefs to a sixth league defeat of the season.

Mocked by the home faithful during a patchy first half from the former England international, Goode duly answered his critics in style after the...

Exeter City Korfball Club top of both divisions of the South West league

Exeter City korfball club finished 2013 at the top of divisions one and two of the South West league.

Both of the club's league teams have beaten competitive opposition from as far afield as Gloucester and Bristol. Exeter coach, Rob King, said "This is an exciting time for us as we look to secure league wins and promotion positions later in the season." This has all been achieved with the club expanding, training many new recruits, and forming a non-league third team to accommodate new players.

Club chairman James Hardy commented: "A central part of the...

Exeter City Dominate but fail to score

Report: Exeter City 0 Mansfield 1

Exeter City lost a pulsating clash 1-0 to Mansfield Town, as the wait for a win at St James Park continues.

But the scoreline does little to depict the true story of the game as City threw everything at their opponents and will feel aggrieved not to have taken anything from a game in which they greatly dominated in great swathes and hit the post three times.

After taking the lead on the stroke of half-time, through Lee Stevenson, Mansfield were subject to a second half onslaught of pressure as Exeter pressed and pressed to score. It...

Exeter City match looks good to go!

As of 9.30am on Saturday morning, the St James Park pitch is in good condition and clear of surface water, and the match against Mansfield looks set to go ahead as planned.

The ground staff are continuing to work hard to ensure that the pitch maintains its condition until 3pm, but presently there are no major concerns over the likelihood of the fixture going ahead.

So come down to SJP for the 3pm kick-off and belatedly cheer the Grecians into the New Year! And as always, stay safe in the wet weather.

Chiefs side to face London Wasps

Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter is confident he will see a response from his side when they return to Aviva Premiership action this Sunday at London Wasps (3pm).

Just a week after going down 22-6 to Harlequins in Big Game 6 at a packed Twickenham Stadium, Devon's finest will again be hitting the road in pursuit of vital league points.

Last weekend's loss in the capital saw the Chiefs slip to sixth in the current standings, a place above this weekend's hosts who themselves warmed up for this encounter with a hard fought 17-12 success at Newcastle Falcons.
