From St James Park to the Euros: Tracking Exeter City Academy Players on the International Stage

As Europe’s biggest stars regroup for international duty, national team rosters for Euro 2024 are filled with familiar names - few of which trace their beginnings to the lower tiers of English football.

Exeter City’s academy may not make headlines, but its graduates are making tournament squads. And while attention builds toward summer fixtures and early Champions League predictions on many of the most popular and secure betting platforms, another narrative deserves recognition: players who started at St James Park and are now representing their countries on the international...

Preview - Plymouth Argyle v Exeter City

This time last season when these two sides met on the 30th March at Home Park it was the Green half of Devon who claimed the bragging rights after beating the Grecians by a goal to nil. At that time it was roles reversed in the league as City were in the play off pack and Argyle were amongst the relegation candidates. It is completely the opposite now as Exeter sit 17th and their neighbours in 9th.

The city faithful will go into this derby fixture buoyed by their teams battering of the Cod army (Fleetwood) 3-0 on Saturday. Even so,...

Baxter has few excuses after Tigers loss

Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter offered few excuses after watching his side slip to a 45-15 defeat at Leicester Tigers in the Aviva Premiership.

A week after claiming their first major silverware in 143 years when they lifted the LV= Cup, the Chiefs were brought crashing back down to earth by a rampant Tigers side.

In a vintage display from the East Midlanders, they scored six tries in total through Logovi'i Mulipola, Niki Goneva, Adam Thompstone and David Mele (2) to keep themselves well in the play-off picture with just five rounds of the season remaining.

The...

Exeter Chiefs will gear up for the new 2014/15 season with three mouth-watering pre-season fixtures, the club can confirm today. With redevelopment works taking place at Sandy Park, both on and off the field, the Chiefs will gear up for the new campaign away from their new-look base. The newly-crowned LV= Cup champions will kick-off their seasonal preparations with a trip to the Welsh capital to face Cardiff Blues at the Arms Park on Friday, August 15 (7.30pm). A week later they will again face opposition from the Rabo Prodirect12 when they head to Ravenhill for the first time to tackle Irish...

Exeter City climb up the table after 3 - 0 victory

Report: Exeter City 3 Fleetwood Town 0

Exeter City ended a winless run at home in emphatic style with a 3-0 win that was merited to a man against Fleetwood Town.

The Grecians were excellent throughout the 90 minutes and could have battered the Cod Army by a more telling scoreline in truth, but a standing ovation from the home faithful was well-deserved come the final whistle.

The scoring was opened when Danny Butterfield’s perfect free-kick found Jon Parkin, who turned into his own goal.

Eliot Richards struck twice in four minutes after the interval – the...

Leicester Tigers 45 Exeter Chiefs 15

If last weekend’s LV= Cup victory marked the champagne moment for Exeter Chiefs so far this season, Rob Baxter’s side were handed a sobering thought at Welford Road as Leicester Tigers maintained their push for the Aviva Premiership play-offs with a convincing five-try performance.

Richard Cockerill’s Tigers were in ruthless mood on their return to top flight action, mauling their Devon rivals with a vintage display that reaped tries for Manu Tuilagi, Logovi’i Mulipola, Vereniki Goneva, Adam Thompstone and a brace for Frenchman David...

Chiefs side to face Tigers

Triumphant in the LV= Cup Final last weekend, Exeter Chiefs assistant coach Ali Hepher insists his side will have to replicate their efforts again over the remainder of the Aviva Premiership season.

With just six league fixtures remaining for the Devon club, the need to get themselves back amongst the division's top six clubs has taken on extra relevance in the light of their latest success story.

Buoyed by their 15-8 win over Northampton Saints in the Anglo-Welsh showpiece last Sunday, the Chiefs now travel to Leicester Tigers this weekend determined to build on the...

Exeter Chiefs skipper Dean Mumm believes he and his team-mates should use Sunday’s LV= Cup triumph as the springboard for future success at the Devon club.

The experienced Australian international led from the front at a packed Sandy Park as he helped the Chiefs to record their first major silverware in 143 years as they overcame Premiership rivals Northampton Saints 15-8.

Having led 8-3 at the break thanks to a Chris Whitehead try and a penalty from fly-half Henry Slade, Mumm helped to extend Exeter’s advantage during the second period when he put the finishing touches to...
