Curtain falls on Ladies Night at Exeter Racecourse

The curtain came down on Ladies Night at Exeter Racecourse on Friday evening, with a strong crowd enjoying the final fixture of the 2025/26 season in style.

A lively atmosphere and plenty of laughter set the tone as guests gathered for a fun-filled event. Sam Binney, visiting from Southampton on a hen do, was announced as the winner.

“This is really unexpected, and I’m actually quite shocked, if I’m honest. I was really worried about today, but I think it’s worked out well. I’m really excited,” she said.

Second place went to Jodie Hart, from Whiddon Down, while...

Chiefs side to face Saracens

Rob Baxter has called on his Exeter Chiefs side to fight “tooth and nail” to keep themselves firmly in the mix at the top end of this year’s Aviva Premiership.

The in-form Chiefs currently sit second in the standings after defending champions Northampton Saints reclaimed pole position with their victory at Saracens last Sunday.

For Baxter, though, seeing his team perched well within the top four is hugely rewarding after what has been an impressive campaign to date for the Devon club.

Not only are the Chiefs flying high in the league, but they top both their LV= and...

Exeter City Win Again!

Match report: Accrington 2 Exeter City 3

Exeter City earned three points in a pulsating game at the Crown Ground, triumphing 3-2 at Accrington Stanley.

Goals a few minutes either side of half-time from Liam Sercombe and Tom Nichols got City into a commanding position, but a strike from distance by John O’Sullivan halved the deficit.

Matt Grimes curled in a free-kick before sub Seamus McCartan quickly pulled another back, to set up a grandstand finish.

But Exeter held on to move within goal difference of the play-off places.

Forward Alex Nicholls got...

Rob Baxter has spoken of his delight after this week confirming he and his Exeter Chiefs coaching team have all signed new contracts tying them to the club until 2018.

With their current deals due to expire at the end of the current campaign, the Chiefs board have wasted little time in ensuring they have the futures of Baxter and his team of trusty lieutenants in place for the foreseeable future.

Baxter - who took over the running of the Chiefs in 2009 following the departure of former Director of Rugby, Pete Drewett - has been the lead figure in Exeter’s recent rise out of...

Bateman says Chiefs boys are buzzing

Greg Bateman believes lessons learnt last season by the Exeter Chiefs are paying dividends this term with the Devon club riding high in the Aviva Premiership.

Rob Baxter’s side finished last season’s Premiership campaign in eighth spot, matching the same position that they finished in their inaugural season amongst English rugby’s elite.

It was a disappointing outcome for the Chiefs, especially having landed top six finishes in their two previous seasons.

There were, however, mitigating factors according to head coach Baxter, who not only saw his side slip to a...

A crowd of more than 3,000 turned out at Exeter Racecourse yesterday to watch ponies from Dartmoor and Clydesdale horses stretch their limbs in their two furlong races before seven jump races gave racegoers an afternoon to remember.

Six hill ponies went to post and it was a tiny pure bred registered Dartmoor who crossed the line in front with his owner Rachael Watson on board.

“My plan was to stay close to Frolic in the race and keep something in the tank for the finish,” said 20-year-old Rachael who farms with her parents near Poundsgate.

The ponies are part of the...

Nowell leaves Wasps feeling sick

Jack Nowell shook off the effects of pre-game illness to help Exeter Chiefs to maintain their fine form in this season’s Aviva Premiership.

The England international admitted after his side’s latest top flight win over Wasps that he had been ‘sick’ and ‘feeling rough’ just hours before he claimed a try double for the Devon club.

For Nowell, the win not only saw Rob Baxter’s side momentarily move to the summit of the Premiership, but it also ended his own 19-month wait to score a first team try. Ironically, his last Premiership try came against Wasps in a 37-24 win at Adams...
