Exeter Chiefs honour women’s trailblazer

Exeter Chiefs Women will move into the 2025/26 season with a new-look squad but not before the club recognises the contribution of some its departing players, including trailblazing centurion Ebony Jefferies.

Flanker Jefferies recorded her 100th game at the end of last season having played the very first Exeter Chiefs Women’s game back in 2020. She is currently rehabilitating from foot surgery.

Exeter Chiefs chairman and CEO Tony Rowe CBE said: “Ebony has also been a loyal servant to Chiefs Women and played in our very first friendly and league games through to our last...

Chiefs side to face La Rochelle

Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter says a different “mental challenge” awaits his players as they prepare to tackle European Challenge Cup opponents La Rochelle for the second time inside a week at Sandy Park tomorrow (3pm).

The Aviva Premiership club maintained pole position in Pool Two of this season’s competition as they collected a five-point maximum in their 36-10 victory at the Stade Marcel Deflandre.

However, Baxter knows their Top 14 rivals will arrive in Devon this weekend not only desperate to avenge last week’s defeat, but at the same time keep their own...

Exeter cancer charity FORCE is offering the chance for one lucky runner to take part in next year’s Virgin Money London Marathon.

For the first time, FORCE has been awarded a golden bond space for the race on Sunday April 26.

Under the scheme, charities buy guaranteed entries which they offer to anyone who missed out on a ballot place. Runners then commit to raise a four figure sum for their cause.

“Obviously we want to maximise this fantastic opportunity, so we are looking for a keen runner to represent FORCE on the day. He or she will also need to be an...

Fly-half Ceri Sweeney insists it’s imperative the Exeter Chiefs make the most of home advantage this weekend as they looked to kick on in this season’s European Challenge Cup.

At the halfway stage of Pool Two qualification, Rob Baxter’s side sit top of the pile having netted 11 points from their opening three games.

Five of those points came a week ago as the Chiefs secured maximum reward from a 36-10 victory away to French hosts La Rochelle at the Stade Marcel Deflandre.

Tries from Tom James, Brett Sturgess, Byron McGuigan and Fetu’u Vainikolo, coupled with a 16-...

Baxter hails Waldrom's award

Rob Baxter believes the decision to award Thomas Waldrom the Aviva Premiership Player of the Month for November is “fully justified” after a highly promising start to his Exeter Chiefs career.

The 31-year-old has been the club’s stand-out figure so far this term, scoring seven tries in nine Premiership starts, to help the Chiefs position themselves in the top three of English rugby’s top flight.

His arrival this summer on a three-year deal from Leicester Tigers was questioned by some media observers who believed the England international had produced his best form whilst at...

Supporters sponsor Exeter City v Burton match

You’re out of the FA Cup. So what better to do with that free Saturday in December than to bring forward a match due to be played on a cold Tuesday evening in March? So, with the agreement of our opponents, Burton Albion, the match was brought forward from 3rd March to 6th December. So far so good, but that left very little time to get all the usual sponsorships and hospitality sales in place. Step forward the Exeter City Supporters’ Trust with the suggestion of making it a ‘Supporters Sponsored match’.

The fans, who own the club through the Supporters’ Trust, responded in force...

Thomas Waldrom’s eye-catching displays for the Exeter Chiefs have today been rewarded after he was named the Aviva Premiership Player of the Month for November.

The 31-year-old forward, who joined the Devon club in the summer after a four-year stint with the Leicester Tigers, has enjoyed a stellar start to his Chiefs career, scoring seven tries in nine Premiership starts.

Waldrom’s on-field performances have not only helped to propel Rob Baxter’s side into the top three in the Aviva Premiership, but also to the top of both their European and LV= Cup pools, as well as a...

Racing at Exeter on New Year’s Day is a long-established Devon tradition. It’s when sore heads from the previous nights celebrations are banished and the excitement of horses and jockeys galloping around the track are enjoyed.

This year, early birds can enjoy a 25 per cent discount off the price of Grandstand and Paddock tickets if they book by Christmas Eve (quote NYD2014) and with children aged 17 and under gaining free entry, it’s one of the county’s top destinations to continue the New Year celebrations.

General manager Tim Darby said: “The atmosphere at Exeter on New...

Duo join Weston-super-Mare on loan

Exeter City attacking duo Matt Jay and Ollie Watkins have joined Weston-super-Mare on a one-month loan deal. The pair both turned professional in the summer after winning the Youth Alliance South West title with the Grecians’ under-18 team, and made their first-team debuts while still Academy players last season. Jay and Watkins could feature in as many as eight games for the Somerset side before their loan is due to end after they face Sutton United on Sunday 4th January.

Exeter City 1 Burton Albion 1: Match report

Exeter City and Burton Albion played out a 1-1 draw at St James Park, with both goals coming after the break.

Jacob Blyth was Burton’s goalscorer on the hour-mark – and it looked like it was going to be enough until Christian Ribeiro headed in City’s equaliser with less than five minutes on the clock.

The result kept up Exeter’s record of being the only Football League team to have scored and conceded in all of their home games in the league to date this season.

And while it didn’t earn Exeter a place amongst the play-off places, it represented a decent point...

Baxter salutes European win

Rob Baxter hailed his side’s European Challenge Cup victory over La Rochelle as a “thoroughly professional performance” as the Exeter Chiefs reaffirmed their position at the top of Pool Two.

Not since their maiden European campaign in 2010 - against Bourgoin - had the Chiefs secured victory on French soil.

Six consecutive defeats across the Channel followed for Baxter’s troops, but they underlined their blossoming credentials with a powerful display at the Stade Marcel Deflandre.

Tries from Tom James, Brett Sturgess, Byron McGuigan and Fetu’u Vainikolo were among...
