Curtain falls on Ladies Night at Exeter Racecourse

The curtain came down on Ladies Night at Exeter Racecourse on Friday evening, with a strong crowd enjoying the final fixture of the 2025/26 season in style.

A lively atmosphere and plenty of laughter set the tone as guests gathered for a fun-filled event. Sam Binney, visiting from Southampton on a hen do, was announced as the winner.

“This is really unexpected, and I’m actually quite shocked, if I’m honest. I was really worried about today, but I think it’s worked out well. I’m really excited,” she said.

Second place went to Jodie Hart, from Whiddon Down, while...

With the launch of the high profile national campaign This Girl Can, Exeter based South West Athletics is echoing this call to action by encouraging more women and girls into athletics and into coaching.

Director of Coaching Sonya Ellis has long been an advocate for more women coaches in sport and already has a number of athletes going through athletics coaching awards.

In addition, SW Athletics has taken on an apprentice assistant coach, Angela Lynn, who is a mother of two and has already successfully completed her coaching assistant’s award and is part way through her...

Whitten aims to kick on

Ian Whitten believes he and his Exeter Chiefs team-mates must use the joy of European qualification as the driving force to kick on further in the defence of their LV= Cup crown.

Having booked a home date with Newcastle Falcons in the last eight of this season’s European Challenge Cup with victory over Bayonne last weekend, attention at Sandy Park this week has now switched to this Sunday’s showdown with the Dragons at Rodney Parade (2:30pm).

With home wins over league rivals Gloucester and Bath already accrued in this season’s LV= Cup, the Chiefs will be looking to further...

The Day We Played Brazil multi-media presentation

Last year the Exeter City FC Supporters’ Trust, with the help of others, did a great deal of work in pulling together all the facts, photos and other information about Exeter City FC’s historic tour of South America.

While the Club planned the amazing centenary trip to Rio de Janeiro, the Trust helped with the production of the book Have You Ever Played Brazil? and the Northcott production of The Day We Played Brazil.

The Trust also produced an exhibition and set up a website www.grecianvoices.com

Now, for anyone who may have missed out on last year's events or...

Bayonne no match for powerful Chiefs

A powerful second half display from Exeter Chiefs saw them blitz visiting Bayonne to secure a first-ever home quarter-final in the European Challenge Cup.

Having led 11-0 at half time thanks to an early Jack Nowell try and two penalties from Henry Slade, Rob Baxter’s men upped the ante on the resumption adding a further five tries to secure a Sandy Park showdown with Aviva Premiership rivals Newcastle Falcons this Easter.

Matt Jess, Dave Ewers, Carl Rimmer (pictured), Kai Horstmann and skipper Dean Mumm all went over for tries, three of which were converted by replacement...

Exeter City settle for a draw

Match report: Oxford 2 Exeter City 2

Exeter City and Oxford United shared the spoils with a 2-2 draw at the Kassam Stadium in Sky Bet League 2.

The hosts had the better of the chances in the first period and striker Danny Hylton fired them into the lead early on, but City went into the break level as Arron Davies struck from outside the area.

It looked like the Grecians would travel back to Devon with all three points when Alex Nicholls applied the finishing touch on a set-piece, but U’s sub James Roberts struck minutes later in injury time to square things up again...

Baxter hails White's contribution

Rob Baxter has hailed Ben White as one of the “success stories” of Exeter Chiefs after the all-action forward today agreed terms on a new two-year deal with the club.

White, who joined the Chiefs in 2011 from the Cardiff Blues, is the latest in a line of current Exeter stars to re-affirm their commitment to the Devon club in recent weeks.

A destructive on-field force, the Australian-born back-row ace has to date amassed 84 appearances, scoring 15 tries in the process.

Since arriving from the Welsh region, White has helped play an integral part in the rise of the...

Exeter Chiefs side to face Bayonne

Rob Baxter believes the incentive of a home quarter-final can act as the ideal motivation for his Exeter Chiefs side ahead of their final Pool Two fixture against Bayonne in this season's European Challenge Cup (5.30pm) today.

Having already bagged themselves a last eight spot courtesy of last weekend's 33-24 win at Connacht, the Chiefs will be looking to put the gloss on what has been an impressive European campaign to date. Standing in their way, however, are their Top 14 rivals, who despite not being able to advance to the latter stages, will themselves be looking to finish on a...

Australian-born White follows the lead of Gareth Steenson, Dave Lewis, Ben Moon, Carl Rimmer and Kai Horstmann in agreeing terms on a new deal with the Devon club in recent weeks.

Nowell delighted by England call up

Exeter Chiefs star Jack Nowell has spoken of his delight after he was named in Stuart Lancaster’s 34-man England training squad ahead of the opening RBS Six Nations clash with Wales.

Having missed last summer’s tour to New Zealand due to knee surgery, Lancaster brought the talented Cornishman back into his training squad for the Autumn internationals against New Zealand, South Africa, Samoa and Australia.

And although the 21-year-old trained for all four weeks with the Red Rose country at their Pennyhill Park base, he was unable to add to his tally of five international...
