City edged out at Plainmoor

Torquay Utd 2 Exeter City 1: Match report

Exeter City were edged out at Plainmoor as Torquay United came from behind for a 2-1 pre-season win.

Tom Nichols handed the Grecians an early lead, converting after Lee Holmes had cut in from the flank, but Shepherd Murombedzi's pounding equaliser made sure the sides went in level at the break.

Despite David Wheeler hitting the post and another close shave for Nichols in the second half, it was Torquay that won it, as Malachi Lavelle-Moore headed in captain Exodus Geohaghon's long-throw with his first touch since coming off...

Exeter Chiefs prop Alec Hepburn insists he's 'itching to start' as the countdown to the new 2015/16 season draws ever nearer.

Having joined the Aviva Premiership club from Australian outfit Perth Spirit in January, the former England Under-20s international is now firing on all cylinders having fully recovered from the knee injury which blighted his start to life at Sandy Park.

Lining up alongside a large nucleus of Rob Baxter's first team squad at their Topsham training base, Hepburn is looking to make the most of the current pre-season to lay the foundations for what he...

City v Sheffield Utd report

A BRAVE Exeter City just missed out on a draw with League 1 Sheffield United in their final pre-season friendly at St James Park before the big kick-off in two week’s time.

The Grecians named a strong-looking line-up for this one, one which looks very like that which may take to the field to begin the 2015/16 League 2 campaign against Yeovil Town.

Blades boss Nigel Adkins, who brought Reading to St James Park for a pre-season fixture one year ago, switched goalkeepers after handing in the teamsheets, with George Long, the former Motherwell loanee, replacing Mark Howard in...

Patience pays off for Baxter

The 25-year-old back is Baxter’s ninth new addition to the playing ranks at Sandy Park, joining the Devon club from Aviva Premiership rivals London Irish on a one-year deal. Never one to rush into the market just for the sake of bolstering his numbers, Baxter has diligently gone about capturing the Redhill-born player in a short space of time.

Having lost speedsters Tom James and Fetu’u Vainikolo at the end of last...
