Georgian Youngster Tchumbadze Becomes a Chief

Exeter Chiefs have completed the signing of young Georgian international prop, Bachuki Tchumbadze, ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The 23-year-old front rower moves to Devon to play his club rugby outside of his native Georgia for the first time in his career.

“I really enjoy English rugby, and I’m truly honoured to have the opportunity to be a key part of the Exeter Chiefs,” Tchumbadze said.

“I’m well aware of the crucial role that forwards play in the team’s system, and I’m really looking forward to making my debut in the Premiership.”

The finalists of 2015’s Teignbridge Sports Personality of the Year Awards have been unveiled.

The judges have been busy selecting and writing to the committed and talented people who have been selected as finalists for the Awards, which recognise sporting success and contributions at all levels around the district.

New team Teignmouth Thunderbirds (TBirds) Cougars moved clear on top of the division six ladder in the Exeter Netball League after a classy 33-19 win over WestExe Bobcats on Wednesday 21st October.

Exeter Chiefs forward Don Armand has warned he and his team-mates can ill afford to “rest on their laurels” despite getting their Aviva Premiership campaign up and running with victory over London Irish on Saturday.

Four members of Exeter City Swimming Club have successfully attained qualifying times for the British Short Course National Championships being held in Sheffield on December 17th.

Dominic Wooldridge (20), Liam White (17), Katie Townsend (15) and Warren Barrett (28) all gained their qualifying times at the Exeter City Swimming Club level 2 meet held at Plymouth Aquatics Centre at the beginning of October.

It is the first time the ASA have held a short course National championship in nearly seven years and competition to secure qualifying times was strong from all clubs...

Jack Nowell marked his return to the Exeter Chiefs side by scoring two tries in his side’s 38-11 Aviva Premiership win over London Irish.

The England international grabbed a try in each half as Rob Baxter’s side ran in six tries in a dominant display at Sandy Park.

Skipper Gareth Steenson started the try-fest and also added four conversions, before he was joined on the scoresheet by Don Armand, Luke Cowan-Dickie, James Short and the impressive Nowell.

Golf tournament raises £4k for SW Multiple Sclerosis Centre

More than £4,000 was raised at a charity golf day held in aid of South West Multiple Sclerosis Centre.

The event, sponsored by Thomas Westcott Chartered Accountants and Thomas Westcott Business Recovery, saw 22 teams of four, made up of professional contacts and clients, battle it out at Teignmouth Golf Club.

In all £4,100 was raised through a combination of entry fees, fun golf-themed events, raffles and an auction.

As in previous years all the money was donated to the South West MS Centre in Clyst Heath, Exeter.
