City bow out of the Under-21 Premier League Cup

TWO GOALS in each half for West Ham United Under-21s knocked the Grecians out of the Under-21 Premier League Cup at the Round of 32 stage.

City got off to the worst possible start as Jaanai Gordon fired the Hammers into a two-goal lead within eleven minutes. As the game opened up in the latter stages, goals from Djair Parfitt-Williams and Moses Makasi sealed West Ham’s place in the next round.

The Grecians named a strong team for the game, including a start for striker Jamie Reid, who was fresh off the back of scoring an equaliser for the first-team against Bristol Rovers...

Chiefs edge out Quins

Exeter Chiefs 26 Harlequins 25

For those who don’t know, Sandy Park is one of the latest properties available on the new edition of Exeter Monopoly that was unveiled just a few weeks ago in the city.

Well, after this, maybe Rob Baxter and his Chiefs side have already used their ‘Get out of Jail’ card as they overcame fellow high flyers Harlequins in a hard-fought Aviva Premiership encounter at the Devon venue.

Fly-half Gareth Steenson led the way for the Devonians, scoring one of two tries in his own personal points haul of 21 points.

Winger James Short...

Exeter City snatch a point at home

JAMIE REID struck a last-gasp equaliser to deny Bristol Rovers all three points at St James Park.

A long-range effort from Stuart Sinclair had looked to secure a seventh away league win of the season for the visitors, but Reid’s strike in the fifth minute of stoppage-time ensured a share of the spoils for the Grecians. City made four changes to the team that beat Mansfield Town in mid-week, including a first league start since September for left-back Craig Woodman.

Following an end-to-end start, Bristol Rovers were responsible for the game’s first major chance. Full-back...

The game is at Exeter City’s St James Park stadium with a 7pm Kick Off.

Chiefs side to face Harlequins

Rob Baxter has spent this week reminding his Exeter Chiefs players to make home advantage tell in their quest for honours this season.

With just two home defeats in 14 months, the term ‘fortress’ has been touted loud and proud by many observers, including those within the Sandy Park corridors.

The impressive run of form has not only helped to secure vital points within the Aviva Premiership and progression within various cup competitions for the Devon club, but it’s also been the foundation from which Baxter has been able to build for the future.

It’s not been quite the same whirlwind start to the season as it was 12 months ago for Thomas Waldrom, but the Exeter Chiefs forward isn’t complaining as long as the Devon club continue to produce the winning formula.

England international Waldrom enjoyed an amazing first year in Chiefs colours, scoring 16 tries in total following his move from Aviva Premiership rivals Leicester Tigers.

His tally ensured he not only finished top of the touchdown pile for Rob Baxter’s side, but he was also crowned the first forward since Neil Back in 1999 to be the Premiership’s top try-...

Exeter City unbeaten in November

TWO LINK-UPS between Lee Holmes and Joel Grant carved the goals that earned Exeter City their second away win in four days.

There were five changes to the Exeter City starting line-up for this one - Tom Nichols, Lee Holmes, Joel Grant, Alex Nicholls and Christian Ribeiro were the players that come back into the side, while Craig Woodman makes his return from injury with a place on the bench. There were just the two changes to the Mansfield eleven, with Nathan Thomas and Jamie McGuire the players coming in.
