The 23-year-old front rower moves to Devon to play his club rugby outside of his native Georgia for the first time in his career.

“I really enjoy English rugby, and I’m truly honoured to have the opportunity to be a key part of the Exeter Chiefs,” Tchumbadze said.

It’s four years since Exeter Chiefs last got the better of Leicester Tigers, but the strides that have been made in that time were there for all to see at Sandy Park. Rob Baxter’s ‘Class of 2015’ underlined their ever-growing promise with a workmanlike display from start to finish.

Skipper Gareth Steenson landed the killer blows for the home side, converting his own first half try to go alongside four successful penalties.

Opposite number Owen Williams countered with two penalties of his own, but it was never enough for English rugby’s most decorated club Fresh from their...

Chiefs side to face Leicester Tigers

Rob Baxter believes today's visit of Leicester Tigers will provide the ‘acid test’ for his Exeter Chiefs side so far this season.

In what has been an encouraging start to the new Aviva Premiership season for Devon’s finest, this Round Four match-up promises to be their toughest assignment so far.

England’s most decorated club will arrive in the Westcountry not only boasting a Premiership record of eight wins in ten starts against the Chiefs, but they are also one of only two clubs, the other is Saracens, who have yet to taste defeat this term.

Baxter is well aware...

Armand hails all-round effort at Chiefs

Don Armand believes Exeter Chiefs underlined what they are capable of this season with Sunday's impressive victory over Newcastle Falcons in the Aviva Premiership.

Rob Baxter's side followed up their impressive home win over London Irish with an equally destructive display in the North East, sinking the Falcons with a six-try blast in their 41-3 success.

Back-row forward Armand helped lead the way for the Westcountry outfit as he scored two tries on the day in a man-of-the-match performance, which also yielded tries for Will Chudley, Julian Salvi, Matt Jess and Moray Low...

Baxter happy with Chiefs' new hard edge

Rob Baxter believes missing out on last season’s end of season play-offs in the Aviva Premiership has given his Exeter Chiefs side a steely determination to go one better this term.

After three rounds of the new campaign, the Devon club sit third in the standings after they swept aside winless Newcastle Falcons 41-3 at Kingston Park.

Undone in the corresponding fixture last season by the North East outfit, Baxter watched on with glowing satisfaction as his Chiefs team ran in six tries during a polished display.

Five of those scores came in the first half as Will...

Chiefs ground the Falcons

On Halloween weekend, Exeter Chiefs ensured there was no repeat of last season’s Kingston Park ‘Horror Show’ as they powered to man emphatic victory in the Aviva Premiership.

Undone 29-24 at the North East venue last term, Rob Baxter’s side moved back amongst the division’s frontrunners with a frightening six-try display against winless Newcastle Falcons ending 3-41.

Five tries in the opening half from Will Chudley, Julian Salvi, Matt Jess and Don Armand (2) did much of the damage for the visitors, who added a further score after the break through replacement Moray Low....

City beaten at the Hive

Match report: Barnet 2 Exeter City 0

Exeter City's search for a Saturday afternoon away win this season continues after a 2-0 Hallowe’en defeat at Barnet.

City made three changes for this one, and with Jordan Moore-Taylor not involved, Tom McCready came in at right-back and featured alongside a central defensive pairing of Christian Ribeiro and the returning Troy Brown. Ryan Harley was back in the starting line-up, and operated along the flank.

City spent a lot of the first period in defensive positions, with Tom Nichols finding himself in the defensive third a lot...

Chiefs side to face Falcons

Rob Baxter believes today's (Sunday) Aviva Premiership trip to Newcastle Falcons will show lessons have been learned in the period since the club’s last trip to the North East.

It was back in October that the Chiefs last visited Kingston Park, but it was an unhappy occasion for the visitors who slipped to a 29-24 reverse.

For the Falcons, it ended an almost year long wait for a league win and they celebrated it post-match as if we’re a season defining moment.

However, the Chiefs - who ultimately ended up missing out on the play-offs last season on points difference...

Exeter lock Damian Welch believes there is still “more to come” from the Chiefs this season, despite an encouraging start to the new Aviva Premiership season for the Devon club.
