From St James Park to the Euros: Tracking Exeter City Academy Players on the International Stage

As Europe’s biggest stars regroup for international duty, national team rosters for Euro 2024 are filled with familiar names - few of which trace their beginnings to the lower tiers of English football.

Exeter City’s academy may not make headlines, but its graduates are making tournament squads. And while attention builds toward summer fixtures and early Champions League predictions on many of the most popular and secure betting platforms, another narrative deserves recognition: players who started at St James Park and are now representing their countries on the international...

More than 6,000 fans cheered on Exeter City as they took on Liverpool in the second leg of their FA Cup encounter.

The Grecians lost 3-0, but the supporters were winners on the night, cheering on their side until the final whistle.

BT sport presenter Jake Humphrey praised the fans for their commitment in making the 250-mile journey from Devon to Mersyside.

Exeter gave it their all against the Premiership side but the gap between the divisions was too much in the end.

Klopp fielded a slightly more experienced line-up for this replay than the one at Exeter,...

San Diego fan returns for Anfield rematch

Jester George is all smiles again today after bookie Betfred came to the rescue to pay for his 11,000–mile round trip to see his heroes Exeter City in their biggest match for a decade.

The club’s super fan – real name George Smith – lives with his wife Monica and family in California. He flew over to watch the FA Cup game against Liverpool in front of a capacity 8,000 crowd at St James Park earlier this month when Exeter were 17 minutes of pulling off the giant-killing shock of the third round.

The League Two club, who were leading 2-1 at the interval were pegged back by...

Escot’s beautiful landscape is transformed into a mud drenched 5k, 10k and 15k obstacle course race making it a great day out, fantastic team building exercise and a challenge for novices and iron-men alike.

Ex- Chiefs lock, Chris Bentley is taking part in the 15k route and says “ELF is a fantastic charity doing a great job within the city and, being a member of the Exeter Foundation, is certainly something that I’m keen to support. Indeed, I’m so keen that I’m going to drag my...

Baxter proud despite defeat

Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter admitted he was proud of his side’s performance despite slipping to a 34-27 defeat away to Bordeaux-Begles.

In an absorbing Championship Cup contest – which saw eight tries scored – the Chiefs were ultimately undone late in the game by a converted try from replacement Marco T auleigne. Until that point, the Chiefs – who made 13 changes to their line-up that had defeated Gloucester seven days earlier – more than held their own against their French rivals, who collected earlier tries through Adam Ashley-Cooper, Blair Connor, Louis-Benoit Madaule...

Grecians complete the double over the O's

THREE FIRST-HALF goals from Exeter City secured a victory at the Matchroom Stadium as the Grecians returned to winning ways in Sky Bet League 2.

In a pulsating match, the hosts had taken the lead in the opening minute through an Ollie Palmer goal. But City responded magnificently, drawing level through Jayden Stockley in the fourteenth minute before Nichols put the away side ahead with his tenth league goal of the campaign. Stockley doubled his tally for the afternoon just after the half-hour mark to put City in the driving seat,...

Bordeaux-Begles edge out Exeter Chiefs

Bordeaux-Begles 34 Chiefs 27: Match report

It’s not quite over, but Exeter’s hopes of advancing in this season’s Champions Cup are hanging by a thread after defeat away to Bordeaux-Begles.

Like two prize fighters battling away in the ring, the rivalling teams traded countless blows before the Englishmen were finally floored by Marco Tauleigne’s converted try ten minutes from time.

His late touchdown was the last of eight tries scored at the Stade Chaban Delmas and means Rob Baxter’s Chiefs side now need somewhat of a miracle to advance into the quarter-finals....
