From St James Park to the Euros: Tracking Exeter City Academy Players on the International Stage

As Europe’s biggest stars regroup for international duty, national team rosters for Euro 2024 are filled with familiar names - few of which trace their beginnings to the lower tiers of English football.

Exeter City’s academy may not make headlines, but its graduates are making tournament squads. And while attention builds toward summer fixtures and early Champions League predictions on many of the most popular and secure betting platforms, another narrative deserves recognition: players who started at St James Park and are now representing their countries on the international...

Exeter City 1 Cambridge United 2: Match report

First-half goals from Luke Berry and Harrison Dunk gave Cambridge United a 2-1 win at St James Park.

The Grecians, after a disappointing first half performance, produced a second-half fightback with Joel Grant pulling a goal back but they could not find an equaliser in what was a disappointing display.

City manager Paul Tisdale made three changes to the side that beat Barnet 4-1 in their last league match. Reuben Reid was ruled out through injury and replaced by former U’s striker Robbie Simpson.

Jake Taylor was suspended for the match and replaced by Matt Oakley,...

Ulster Rugby 19 Exeter Chiefs 18

In the city which built the ill-fated Titanic, Exeter Chiefs were left with that sinking feeling in this dramatic European Champions Cup encounter at the Kingspan Stadium.

Paddy Jackson’s late drop-goal condemned Rob Baxter’s side to back-to-back defeats in the competition and robbed Gareth Steenson of a happy homecoming back in his native Northern Ireland.

Steenson plundered all 18 of Exeter’s points on the night, landing five penalties and a drop-goal, in another accomplished display from the Dungannon-born marksman.

However, he could not deliver the final nail...

When Reuben Reid scored his first goal for Exeter City with nine minutes left to play against Barnet on Saturday, Roger Hamilton-Kendall suddenly became the focus of a lot of attention in the away end at The Hive. His phone started to buzz with messages of good luck as the majority of the 360 travelling supporters held their breath. Fans had their fingers crossed that neither end would see much goalmouth action in the remaining minutes of the match. Not because they were worried about a comeback but because they knew that now there was just a little bit more than three points at stake for...

City, who took Liverpool to an FA Cup replay last season, were drawn against Nathan Jones’ team in the first round draw on Monday night.

Luton won on their last visit to St James Park but it was a pulsating encounter as City battled back from two goals down to draw level before Paul Benson won the game with a contentious goal deep into injury time.

“It was a very competitive game at...
