A team from Tiverton achieved great success at their first attempt playing in the world’s largest school rugby tournament. But, while the Blundell’s boys’ teams are a regular feature at Rosslyn Park National Schools Sevens, it was the girls’ team that were runners-up - the first time that a girls’ team from the school has entered the competition. Many of the girls only took up the sport this term so the team have gone from beginners to prize winners in less than ten weeks.

Armand targeting big final push

Don Armand insists Exeter Chiefs will make the most of time off to ensure they are in fine fettle for the visit of lowly Bristol to Sandy Park in the Aviva Premiership next month.

Having failed to advance through the group stages of this season’s European Champions Cup, the Chiefs are set to have their first weekend off since the start of the season as others battle it out for Europe’s top prize.

The chance to recharge the batteries at a crucial stage of the season will certainly be welcomed, but the rest will only be short-lived for Rob Baxter’s squad as they gear up for...

Exeter City showed their never-say-die attitude as they battled back from three goals down at home to Yeovil Town.

The Grecians looked to be heading to defeat in the 89th minute even when David Wheeler had crashed a volley off the inside of the post. However, Troy Brown then headed home in the first minute of stoppage time and Reuben Reid completed a remarkable comeback that kept City in the play-off places with seven games of the season to go.

City manager Paul Tisdale made four changes to the starting line-up. Wheeler and Reid, having not trained all week due to injuries...

Cup woe for battling Chiefs

Exeter Chiefs 12 Leicester Tigers 16 In the week of the world famous Cheltenham Festival, Exeter Chiefs came a cropper in the final furlong as Leicester Tigers took the honours in this season’s Anglo-Welsh Cup.

Despite a spirited second half showing from Ricky Pellow’s side, they left themselves too much to do against English rugby’s most decorated club.

The Tigers lifted the Anglo-Welsh prize for the third time thanks to a first half try from winger Tom Brady and the boot of prized fly-half Freddie Burns.

The Chiefs countered with a first half try from winger James...

Exeter City stayed in the play-off places as they picked up a well-earned point at Luton Town.

The Grecians had opened the scoring midway through the half with a well-worked move that was finished off by Jake Taylor, but Danny Hylton levelled the scores with a close-range header.
