New Women’s Rugby World Cup trophy visits Exeter

With fewer than 100 days to go until the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 kicks off, excitement is building across the country – and today Exeter played host to the brand-new tournament trophy as part of its official nationwide tour.

The newly unveiled trophy arrived at Exeter Cathedral, where it was welcomed by Sarah Massey, Managing Director of Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025, and a host of Exeter Chiefs stars, including England international Flo Robinson, her sister and fellow Chief Emily Robinson, and teammates Katie Buchanan and Lucy Nye.

It has been announced ahead of the start of the new Formula One season that Mika Hakkinen has joined Unibet as a Brand Ambassador. The racing star from Finland had a glittering racing career which earned him the nickname of the Flying Finn. Even people who are not all that familiar with Formula One will recognise the name of Mika Hakkinen which will help raise awareness of Unibet and the betting markets that it offers. The contract that has been signed will mean that he stays with Unibet through the whole of the 2017 season.

Fans of sport and racing will have an opportunity to join John Inverdale for a night at the races on April 18 when the broadcaster joins the team at Exeter Racecourse.

The University of Exeter Men’s rugby team are making their final preparations ahead of defending their status as the best student team in the country.

Exeter’s 1st XV will travel to the iconic Twickenham stadium, home to the RFU and England Rugby, to take their place in the final of student sport’s most prestigious competition.

A team from Tiverton achieved great success at their first attempt playing in the world’s largest school rugby tournament. But, while the Blundell’s boys’ teams are a regular feature at Rosslyn Park National Schools Sevens, it was the girls’ team that were runners-up - the first time that a girls’ team from the school has entered the competition. Many of the girls only took up the sport this term so the team have gone from beginners to prize winners in less than ten weeks.

Mitsubishi Motors Exeter 7s took over Princesshay Shopping Centre on Wednesday (22 March) to launch this year’s tournament which returns to the South West on 15-16 July.

Exeter City showed their never-say-die attitude as they battled back from three goals down at home to Yeovil Town.
