Tis praises fans after win over Barnet

Manager says supporters were man-of-the-match in win over Barnet

“If I had to pick a man-of-the-match it would have been the fans,” said manager Paul Tisdale after Exeter City’s 2-1 win at home to Barnet on Good Friday.

The Grecians raced into a 2-0 lead against Kevin Nugent’s side – thanks to goals from Jordan Moore-Taylor and David Wheeler in the opening six minutes of the match – but they were made to work hard for the victory as the visitors pulled a goal back through John Akinde and came close on numerous occasions to getting an equaliser.

Tis felt the fans...

Harlequins 26 Chiefs 39

Good Friday turned out to be a ‘Great Friday’ as Exeter Chiefs maintained their top two status in the Aviva Premiership with victory over Harlequins.

Rob Baxter’s side produced one of their best displays of the season so far to record yet another maximum haul against the star-studded Londoners at the Twickenham Stoop.

Lachie Turner (pictured) bagged two tries on his recall to the starting line-up, while Dave Ewers, Michele Campagnaro and Henry Slade also got in on the try-scoring act for the free-scoring Devonians.

Slade and replacement Gareth Steenson completed the...

Chiefs are digging deep, insists Waldrom

Thomas Waldrom’s late try not only ensured maximum reward for the Exeter Chiefs against local rivals Bristol at the weekend, but it took him past a half century of touchdowns in the Aviva Premiership. The free-scoring No.8’s latest brace took him to 51 tries, the second highest for a forward in the competition’s history and only eight behind former Leicester Tigers and England flanker Neil Back on 59. The fact that 38 of those scores have come in the colours of the Chiefs shows the significant impact the 33-year-old has made since he arrived at Sandy Park from the Tigers during the summer...

Exeter Racecourse’s annual family day will be a feast of entertainment for racing fans with an eight race card coming under starters orders at 2.20pm and two pony races prior to that. With a host of free activities too and a running race for children down the home straight it will be an action-packed day of entertainment

A selling hurdle begins the day and runners include the Martin Keighley-trained The Wexfordian who was a well-backed favourite to land a two mile handicap chase at Southwell a couple of weeks ago, failing by a length and three quarters. Before that run he was...

Exeter Chiefs 38 Bristol Rugby 34

As the usual runners and riders position themselves for the final furlong, Exeter Chiefs have safely overcome their first seasonal hurdle by booking their place in the Aviva Premiership’s end of season play-offs.

On Grand National Day, Rob Baxter’s side notched up win number 12 of the campaign, but not before being given an almighty fright by basement battlers Bristol, who threatened to pull off a shock success in this entertaining local derby.

Thankfully, the Chiefs had too much in the tank for their near neighbours, sealing victory with a Thomas Waldrom double and further...

Rob Baxter has challenged his Exeter Chiefs players to continue driving up their standards as the club look to cement their place in this season’s Aviva Premiership play-offs.

With just four rounds of the scheduled season remaining, the Chiefs welcome local rivals Bristol Rugby to Sandy Park tomorrow for a full-blooded derby encounter (3pm).

Unbeaten in the league since late October, another maximum haul for Baxter’s side will not only guarantee a top four finish, but it will keep them firmly on course for one of the two home semi-final spots.
