Blackpool 2 Exeter City 1

Exeter City were narrowly beaten in the Sky Bet League Two Play-Off Final as Mark Cullen’s second-half strike sealed the 2-1 victory for Blackpool at Wembley stadium.

The Tangerines, who went ahead early in the match were pegged back by a brilliant finish from David Wheeler, but Cullen’s close range finish ensured the Grecians would remain in Sky Bet League Two.

Paul Tisdale made three changes from the City side that confirmed the Grecians’ place at Wembley against Carlisle United as Bobby Olejnik, Jordan Tillson and Lee Holmes were replaced by Christy Pym, Lloyd James and...

Chiefs side to face Wasps

It was seven years today that Exeter Chiefs finally arrived at English rugby’s top table.

On a wet and wild night at the Memorial Stadium, the dream became reality for Rob Baxter and his side as they overcame rivals Bristol in the inaugural Championship Play-Off Final.

In the years that have followed, Devon’s finest have not only defied the many doubters who claimed their existence in the Aviva Premiership would be short-lived, but instead they have built on the firm foundations to propel themselves as one of the rising forces within the English and European game.

Waldrom out to finish the job

Thomas Waldrom is ready to put the seal on a season of hard graft by helping Exeter Chiefs to lift the Aviva Premiership title for the first time against Wasps tomorrow (2:30pm).

Waldrom is no stranger to playing at English Rugby HQ, having featured there in the past for both club and country, but now he wants to help the Chiefs reach...

The highs and lows of the Premier League are over for another year and in regards to Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Hull , that may just be another few years. There’s been joy and there’s been sorrow, dullness and brilliance, but just has been the best showing of the top flight this season?

He said: “We had an hour off and I walked into the canteen and there are not normally that many people in there but, on this occasion, the whole room was full and I just though ‘oh no’!”
