Georgian Youngster Tchumbadze Becomes a Chief

Exeter Chiefs have completed the signing of young Georgian international prop, Bachuki Tchumbadze, ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The 23-year-old front rower moves to Devon to play his club rugby outside of his native Georgia for the first time in his career.

“I really enjoy English rugby, and I’m truly honoured to have the opportunity to be a key part of the Exeter Chiefs,” Tchumbadze said.

“I’m well aware of the crucial role that forwards play in the team’s system, and I’m really looking forward to making my debut in the Premiership.”

With the Grecians ticking along nicely in the 2017/18 campaign it is an excellent time to be an Exeter City fan. If you are a fan of the club, then you may be wondering just how realistic title hopes are in League 2 this time around. You would have every reason to feel confident with the fine job manager Paul Tisdale is doing and the high-quality squad from which he can select his team.

Exeter City – the season so far

Fans of the Grecians will have been very pleased with the start the side has made to this current campaign. The latest win over Stevenage has seen them climb...

City 2 Stevenage 1

Exeter City moved back up into the automatic promotion places as they recorded a 2-1 victory at home to Stevenage.

The Grecians were the better side for the majority of the match and deservedly led 2-0 midway through the second half through goals from Lloyd James and Pierce Sweeney, but the visitors kept battling and set up a nervy finish with a volley from Matt Godden 11 minutes from time.

Exeter City Football Club’s first-team players brought early Christmas magic to the children and teenagers on Bramble Ward at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, by paying them a special festive visit.

The players delivered dozens of bears, toys, calendars, footballs, signed merchandise, selection boxes and chocolates to the young patients who are sadly spending the festive period on the ward.

The players who visited the ward were captain Jordan Moore-Taylor, Dean Moxey, Jake Taylor, Lloyd James, Craig Woodman, Ryan Brunt and Robbie Simpson.

Mixed emotions for Wilson and Edwards, as Forest Green win sets up West Brom Showdown

Paul Tisdale was rightly proud of his team, as they overcame a stern challenge from Forest Green to emerge victorious after extra time last week. But for two players, the win has even more significance, as it signals the showdown they must have been anticipating with trepidation and anticipation in equal measure from the moment they saw the draw.

Kane Wilson is on loan to The Grecians from West Bromwich Albion, as is forward Kyle Edwards, and so there was an air of inevitability over the draw. Wilson told the team’s official site: “I just had a feeling it was going to be West Brom...

Leinster 22 Exeter Chiefs 17

Exeter’s search for a first European win over Leinster will continue for a day or two yet, but the Chiefs will ultimately be kicking themselves after letting a golden opportunity pass them by.

For at least an hour, Rob Baxter’s men were the dominant force in Dublin, producing a solid shift in this pulsating Round Four encounter.

Sadly, their hopes of downing the three-time champions at the Aviva Stadium evaporated late on as Luke McGrath’s late score, plus the boot of Isa Nacewa, ensured the home side maintained their unblemished record in Pool 3.

Up until then,...

City 2 Forest Green Rovers 1

City clinch a late victory in extra time to ensure their Emirates FA Cup adventure continues. Jayden Stockley bagged a late winner in front of the Big Bank to set up a third round tie against West Bromwich Albion at St James Park.

After falling behind to a Christian Doidge penalty in the first half, Jordan Tillson’s dismissal reinvigorated City as Pierce Sweeney and Stockley both fired home to seal the comeback on a memorable night for the Grecians.

Exeter Chiefs 8 Leinster 18

You don’t win titles by chance, especially when it comes to Europe, and Leinster underlined just why they are one of the best in the business, inflicting defeat on rivals Exeter Chiefs at Sandy Park.

Almost a year to the day since Bordeaux-Begles emerged victorious from fortress Sandy Park, so it was the turn of the Irish province to experience the same winning feeling against Rob Baxter’s men.

Leo Cullen’s outfit produced not only a victorious display in deepest Devon, but a streetwise one at that, claiming tries through Johnny Sexton and Jack Conan, together with...

City beaten in Essex

Exeter City fell to a 3-1 defeat away to Colchester United in Sky Bet League Two.

Two first-half goals from Sammie Szmodics and an own goal in the first-half was enough to take the match away from City who did pull one back through Jayden Stockley in the second-half, but it wasn't enough despite creating a host of chances later in the match.
