Pellow to leave Chiefs after 16 seasons

Ricky Pellow has made the decision to leave the Exeter Chiefs coaching team after 16 seasons to spend more time with his family and explore other career opportunities.

The proud Cornishman joined Chiefs in 2009 as skills coach after retiring from his playing career during which he played scrum-half for Cornish Pirates and Worcester Warriors.

Pellow said: “I’ve had 16 amazing years here at the club, so it’s an emotional decision to leave but it is one that enables me and my family to experience a new adventure.

Tour of Britain Stage 2 marked by historic race through Victorian market

World class cyclists will race through the South Molton Pannier Market in September – the first time in the history of the modern Tour of Britain that it is has been routed through a building.

Stage 2 of the race will take place on Monday September 3, starting in the UK’s newest town, Cranbrook, in East Devon and finishing in Barnstaple, North Devon.

The route was announced at the 2018 OVO Energy Tour of Britain national launch in central London on Tuesday evening (5 June).

Honiton gymnasts 24-hour cycle for international trips

Gymnasts and supporters from Honiton Gymnastics Club are undertaking a sponsored 24-hour cycling marathon to help raise funds for two international acrobatics competitions - in Lisbon and Turin.

They will be attempting to cycle 910 miles – the approximate distance from Honiton to Turin – in a 24 hour period on static turbo trainer bikes. The bikes are provided by Dereck Cutler, who owns Dc Cycleworks (bicycle training, servicing and guiding).

Honiton gymnasts take medals at national finals

Eight gymnasts from Honiton Gymnastics Club represented the south west region at the National Development Plan (NDP) Finals at the weekend, and each one of the returned with medals after finishing in podium places.

The NDP Finals saw area champions from 13 UK regions meeting at Fenton Manor in Stoke-on-Trent to battle it out for top honours.

All three partnerships from Honiton Gymnastics Club qualified for the finals after winning their categories at the South West Acrobatic Prelims in Bristol in February.

Coarse fishing destination Cofton Holidays has crowned its first ever winner of the inaugural Cofton Cup Fishing Competition.

The award-winning South Devon holiday park hosted its first competition on one of its five lakes, Mamhead Match Lake, from 18th – 20th May. World’s toughest rowing challenge boat launched to raise funds for Devon charity

Devon businessman Mark Sealey and Army veteran Alan Bustin-Mulkern have launched the boat that will carry them right the way through the world’s toughest rowing race – the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge.

With the aim of raising huge amounts for blood-delivery charity Devon Freewheelers Emergency Voluntary Service (EVS) – also known as the Blood Bikes – Alan and Mark launched their boat for the colossal challenge at the Royal Western Yacht Club in Plymouth.
