Horse racing in Britain is one of the most popular sports and the prestigious top three world-famous horse racing events of the year draw thousands of men and women alike. Such is the appeal of this sport, that many will be jotting down the dates for the main events just to be certain that they can be there as punters or to showcase their elaborate hats! You wouldn’t be surprised to see many of the royal family members attend horse racing events in the UK as well as celebrities and wealthy individuals from around the globe, we will list top three horse racing events for you to look forward to, should you wish to attend for yourself one day:

The Grand National

The Grand National is held at Aintree Racecourse, near Liverpool, first started back in 1839, and is synonymous with families across the British Isles when it comes to betting for grand national, especially when it comes to horses with the most peculiar names! With a race that lasts for over four miles and has thirty fences over two laps it is regarded as one of the toughest to race for horses and jockeys alike, that’s probably why the prize money of £1m is given to the winner of the race. The next race takes place on 4 April 2020.

The Cheltenham Festival

The Cheltenham Festival started way back in 1860 and took place in several places before setting routes at the Warwick Racecourse. It’s known for having a ‘Ladies Day’ on the second day of racing as well as the ‘Gold Cup Day’ on the last day of racing with as much as £4m worth of prizes. Overall, this racecourse is by far the most family-friendly horse racing event and the next event will be taking place between 10 - 13 March 2020.

Royal Ascot

The Royal Ascot festival is, well let’s face it, as quintessential as it gets when it comes to British horse racing. It was founded by Queen Anne, on the 11th August 1711 and was the royal meeting place for monarchs from around the world up until the start of the second world war. Today, anyone can attend and with eighteen top-level races taking place over a five-day period, one can enjoy private boxes as well as fine dining and of course some top-level horse racing. You might want to book your tickets in advance as this event is very popular and will be taking place between the 16 - 20 June 2020.
