Talbot just misses out on medal at National Indoor Championships

Exeter Harriers 15 year old Sam Talbot narrowly missed out on a medal at the National Indoor Championships at Sheffield.
Talbot, now competing in the U17 age group, will this year be up against athletes a year older than himself.
He entered three events, and was surprised to qualify for the semi finals of the 60m sprint, in which he came sixth with 7.31 having taken third place in his heat with 7.31.
Talbot’s long jump of 5.95 gave him eighth place overall. Next was his specialist event, the 60m hurdles, which saw him run 8.42 in his heat for second place and secure his place in the final.
This was a tense race, with Talbot having to remain focused following a false start and a disqualification, but he held his own to finish fourth in 8.32, fractionally off his lifetime best of 8.23.
Talbot returns to Sheffield this weekend for the National Combined Events Championships.
