The Exeter & District Netball League starts this week at the University of Exeter Sports Park with games being played on a brand new high-grade surface.

The University of Exeter - which recently won the Times and Sunday Times Sports University of the Year 2016 award - has invested to significantly improve the playing surface of the Covered Courts facility. Their aim is to both improve the playability of the surface and also improve the look and feel of the Facility.

The new surface which exceeds England Netball surface requirements and is LTS competition standard will be a change from the courts previously experienced by the 58 teams entered into the popular 6 division Exeter Netball League.

“The Netball League will certainly benefit from a much improved surface in the Covered Courts. We have also invested in the overall feel of the facility to ensure all users enjoy playing netball and tennis even more than before. We have invested over £20million in sport over the past 8 years to ensure we have some of the best facilities in the South West. ” Neil Sheppard, Assistant Director of Sport, University of Exeter.

“We’ve been looking forward to the start of the new netball season on the new performance playing surface and hope all new teams and umpires have an enjoyable season”, Ros Kukor, Chairwoman of Exeter Netball League.
