The tennis world will always have that news that will leave people wondering. It could be a huge upset is taking place where someone that is ceded at number 50 or 100 is walloping someone within the first 5. It may be a new comer beating the hell out of a multiple grand slam winner. In all these, the only thing that gains is the suspense and the glamorous nature of the game. If everything becomes predictable, the beauty of the game will be lost. So, all these are actually welcomed.

However, the news coming from India seems to be the most current upset, and it says that two of the country's biggest names in the sports, veteran Saketh Myneni and Leander Paes have been left out of the national squad.

The 2020 Olympics in Tokyo will witness lots of preparations by the coming year. One of them includes the ticket events that will be played in different continents to pick the people that will represent countries.  India in preparation for these, have assembled a number of players to camp. But the surprise is that the two men that have had the center stage in the country’s tennis have been left out. The Rs 50,000 monthly allowance that other players in the camp will be getting will also not be for them.

Instead, the sports ministry has chosen to select players like Ramkumar Ramanathan and Yuki Bhambri for the country’s singles, while Sumit Nagal and Rohan Bopanna are there for the doubles.

It would be noted that one of the two people that were dropped, Myneni, is the current holder of the year’s Arjuna award.

In the women’s angle, the players that made the list include Karman Kaur Thandi, Prarthana Thombare, and Sania Mirza. However, this category is not safe from the surprising drops. The topmost single’s player for the country in the female category Ankita Raina was also dropped. Of course, this is not Australian open tennis tips, but it feels like something that will affect the country in the tournament. This is because Thombare that will be lining up with Saia in the Olympics is ranked 801 in the world, while Ankita is ranked 260. There are not much players in the country who are ranked above Anika. But many of them are ranked above Thombare

However, when it comes to the doubles category, Thombare has the second highest ranking in the country. She is placed at 129 after Sania. Sania now stands at the 8th position in the world ranking. This is actually one of the best the country has had. The number of athletes that India has selected for the preparation for the Olympics is 152, and they will take part in the Asian games and the commonwealth games too.

But clarifying issues on the lists, one of the country’s sports officials posited that a chance will be handed to players who perform well before the tournaments. But those in the camp who does not do well will be removed.

Information also has it that there would be a 20 days regular review of the performances of people in the camp, so as to know who to retain and who to invite.
