As the countdown to the Champions League finals continues, we take a look at not just the teams involved in the showdown but two talismanic individuals that hopes to defy the odds in acquiring Balon d’or accolades to complement their unique and consistent display in the current season.

The First is a 33-year-old Portuguese attacker who have continually defied the odds of football and age with mouth-watering displays. The Portuguese plies his trade with the reigning continental champions Real Madrid. The other is a 25-year-old Egyptian attacker that have defied the odds with consistent display of precision and accuracy in front of goal with a low betting odd as can be checked at all best betting Apps.

Cristiano Ronaldo's heroics of last season earned him the personal accolade from the UEFA body in France. The Portuguese attacker had a slow start to the 2017/2-18 with the attacker being a shadow of the player that won the Balon d Or and world best accolade but Ronaldo return to form just in time before helping his side to see off PSG in the champions league round-16 knockout. That was not enough as the Madrid attacker scored goals when it mattered with the game against Juventus coming to mind. Ronaldo goals were enough to send los blancos despite Juventus scare at Santiago Bernebeu.

Mohammed Salah have been a classic and fairytale display since his arrival from AS Roma last summer. The Egyptian’s combination of pace, brilliance, precision and accuracy on goal have made him the cornerstone Jurgen Kloop’s Liverpool side. The ability to link up play with Roberto Firminho and Saido Mane have made Liverpool a force to reckon with in Europe. Salah have been catalyst for ruthless victories and triumph by the Reds in high-profile games. He was heavily involved in the rout of Porto in Portugal, the 2-leg victories over Manchester city and the trashing of Roma at Anfield. The Egyptian with the following contribution have become a worthy contender for Balon d’or.

Ronaldo and Salah have already proved that they are Catalytic factors that can decide the way and manner their team play in games. While Ronaldo offers direct influence on games with his burning desire to score when presented the chance, Salah offer both direct and indirect influence on Liverpool’s play as he can score goals when presented with chances as well as creating chances for fellow attacking compatriots Mane and Firminho.

Surely in Kiev it won’t just be about the biggest prize in European club football, but it will also be about of the biggest individual accolade in European club football. The two characters will have their moment but time will tell.
