Devondale Electrical Wholesalers Marsh Barton branch is sponsoring the West Exe under 8s team for the second year running.

West Exe play in the Exeter West League fielding two teams and currently train at Tedburn St Mary.

Last season Devondale sponsored new home kits and rainproof jackets, followed up this season with equipment including team water bottles, bibs, training aids and, importantly, footballs. The sponsorship means that there is now a football for each of the 13 players.

Team manager Steve Brown is a customer of Devondale and approached Regional Account Manager Simon Luxton to secure the sponsorship. Steve works with Exe-Tech Electrical Ltd, an electrical contractor in the South West.

He says that the ethos of the West Exe under 8s is all about playing for fun, teamwork, experience and giving young people the chance to get outside.

“We say that everyone is welcome to play as long as there’s space,” he explained.

“The kit provided by Devondale helps our players to really feel that they are part of the team. We were proud to see them looking so smart on the pitch for a Match Day VIP Package with Exeter City Community Trust.”

As a well established local business, Devondale has a track record of supporting community initiatives and sporting activities.

Simon said: “We’re delighted to sponsor the West Exe team and wish them well for the season ahead.

“Some of our other branches also sponsor local youth teams and it’s always gives us a buzz to see the Devondale logo worn by enthusiastic, active youngsters.”
