The first of the season’s eagerly awaited point to points takes place on Sunday November 30th at Black Forest Lodge, Kenton near Exeter off the A380 starting at 12 noon with the first race.

An exhilarating curtain raiser for amateur horse racing nationally, the Black Forest Club Point to Point, organised by The Black Forest Club combined hunts of Mid Devon and Silverton, has attracted over 80 entries and some of the best competitors in their field.

Courtesy of the landowners the Earl and Countess of Devon, every jump on the 3-mile point to point course can be seen by race-goers, even from a vehicle. A great day out for all country loving families, the Black Forest Club Point to Point is one of the most exciting events in the local racing calendar.

It’s a thrilling experience to see the burnished horses and jockeys parade with colourful silks and plaited manes and tails. Then it’s out and onto the racetrack as riders and horses complete the course at a fast and furious gallop, jumping the 4 ft 3" high brushwood fences, competing for the glory of first past the winning post. There are trade stands, bookmakers, hot food marquee and bar.

Jan Hamilton Hon Secretary said: “The Black Forest Club Point to Point kicks off a tremendous season of thrilling horse racing in the West Country. Our course has been specially designed so race-goers can see every jump which makes the day even more enjoyable.”
