Learning to drive from our relatives is great and all, I mean, what’s not to love about being screamed at and having the wheel yanked from our hands for ‘cutting it too close’? No, while being screamed at by our relatives is a lot of fun, we recommend that you learn to drive from a professional. Learning to drive from a professional comes with a large number of benefits, most of which we will mention here today on this page. The benefits of learning to drive from a professional far outweigh those of learning to drive from somebody else.

In this article, as our title and introductory paragraph suggest, we will be explaining why you should learn to drive from a professional, rather than a relative or a friend.

So, if you want to learn to drive, here’s why you should learn from a professional driving instructor.

COVID-19

Because of the SARS-CoV-19 virus, we are not allowed to meet up with friends and family for their safety and ours, but in many northern cities, such as Liverpool and Manchester, lockdown restrictions are not so strict. Because of this, you can take driving lessons in Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle, or any other city that is in Tier 3. This means that you can take your lessons safely while not breaking lockdown restrictions. If you have the opportunity to take your driving lessons now and your city is not locked down, then, by all means, do so, for when restrictions are reintroduced [which they inevitably will be] you will not be able to learn to drive for a long time.

Safety

Learning from a driving instructor is much safer than learning from a relative who thinks they can teach you how to drive and who has ‘been driving since before you were born’. Driving instructors are, as is the nature of their career, trained to teach people to drive, and therefore, are a safer option. Safety should be the first thing in your mind when it comes to learning to drive, no never sacrifice your safety by allowing a relative to teach you to drive.

Techniques

Driving instructors will teach you the proper driving techniques. When you learn from somebody who is not a trained instructor, they can impart bad habits on you that are hard to rid yourself of. Driving instructors, however, will teach you from the very start how to drive and how to drive properly. When you learn from an untrained driver, you will pick habits that will be a detriment to you passing your exam. Learn from a driving instructor and from nobody else, for on your exam, those hard habits you picked up will bite you on the behind.

Tips

Driving instructors will be able to teach you tips and tricks that will benefit you on the road for the rest of your life. While your relatives may also be able to do this, it’s far better to learn, as mentioned in the last paragraph, from a trained instructor who knows only the official tips and tricks, and those that will not get you in trouble. You can learn a lot from a driving instructor if you just sit back and listen and allow them to take control.

Comfort

A friend or relative who is teaching you to drive will very likely scream, shout, and irritate you. A driving instructor, however, will not. No, when you make a mistake with an instructor, they will stop the car and tell you to do it again. Equally, they will not put you in a potentially dangerous situation. You will find that driving with an instructor is far more comfortable than without one. You will feel a lot more comfortable and, in turn, feel a lot more confident on the road. Comfort is of the utmost importance when driving for the first time.

Legality

The likelihood is that it’s illegal where you live to drive without a license or insurance in a relative's car. Driving instructors, providing you have a provisional license, are legally allowed to travel with you in the vehicle and have you drive their car, the chances are, your uncle Dave does not. The legality of it is very important, too. You do not want to have your wings clipped before you have an opportunity to fly. Follow the law and only drive in a licensed instructor’s car, otherwise, you could find yourself in a lot of trouble.

In this article, we hope to have explained why you must always learn to drive from a professional, and never from somebody who thinks they know how to drive or that they can teach you. We thank you for visiting our page and reading this article. Please do visit us again soon!
