Devon digital GP project scoops national award

An NHS Devon ICB (Integrated Care Board) project that allows patients to consult GPs located anywhere in the UK has won a prestigious national healthcare award.

The innovative ‘ GP in the Cloud ’ initiative was crowned the winner of the Virtual Care Project of the Year Award at the HSJ Partnership Awards.

GP in the Cloud – a partnership between NHS Devon ICB, DELT Shared Services, Integy and NASGP – was also named runner-up in the coveted Best Healthcare Provider Partnership with the NHS category.

Devon County Show pledges an inclusive experience for all

Each year, the Devon County Show welcomes well over a thousand visitors with accessibility issues through its gates and this number is increasing year on year.

Recognising the importance of creating an inclusive experience for all, Show Manager, Lisa Moore has announced the introduction of several new initiatives for the 2024 Show. These have come about as a result of a site audit carried out at the 2023 Show by Chloe Hammond, a wheelchair user, and her assistance dog, Ocho.

Monday saw the Exeter Dementia Action Alliance pay tribute to the incredible artist, Tony Husband. The alliance also took time to celebrate 10 years since it’s inception in 2014.

Residents urged to verify changes in Single Person Discount Status

East Devon District Council (EDDC) is urging residents who receive Single Person Discount to ensure that any changes in their circumstances have been promptly notified to the council. Failure to report changes before the deadline of 5th April could result in a penalty of £70 being added to their council tax bill.

Any alteration in circumstances, such as a partner moving in or a child reaching the age of 18, may invalidate the Single Person Discount, necessitating the issue of a new bill. Residents are encouraged to inform EDDC of any such changes either through the council’s...

Nuffield Health Exeter Hospital has performed its 2,000th surgery with the Mako® robot , which enables consultant surgeons to carry out more precise knee and hip replacements, with patients likely to experience less pain and faster recoveries.

Archie Small, a promising apprentice electrician from Exeter, has reached the semi-final stage of Screwfix Trade Apprentice 2024.

Marking a decade of the nationwide competition which shines a light on the UK & Ireland’s very best future talent, this year’s Screwfix Trade Apprentice received more than 1,800 applications.

Entries have now been whittled down to just 33, all of whom are in with the chance of being crowned Screwfix Trade Apprentice 2024 at the national final in May.
