Region launches flagship Investment Brochure at UKREiiF, showcasing nine nationally strategic, globally significant projects

The Great South West Partnership has launched its new Investment Brochure at UKREiiF, the UK's largest investment and development convention with over 10,000 delegates attending. The brochure was unveiled at a special lunch reception hosted by Karl Tucker, Great South West Chair, at the Great South West Pavilion, and attended by senior business figures, government officials and national and international investors.

Castle Drogo Spring Fling

The Castle Drogo Youth Panel has planned a free community open evening to celebrate Museums at Night on Friday 15 May.

From 6pm until 9pm, the gates will be flung open for all local people to come up and enjoy spending time at the castle outside normal opening hours. The Youth Panel’s aim is for this to be a chilled out evening where visitors can stroll in the garden, relax on the lawns, listen to music and watch the sun go down. Alpacas to charm Devon County Show visitors

A new family-friendly alpaca feature will be unveiled for the first time on the third day of the Devon County Show (May 21-23) at Westpoint, Exeter.

Visitors will be able to get close to the woolly South American animals as part of a day of activities and demonstrations to help them ‘get to know alpacas better’.

Alpaca steward Gary Sanders said: “We felt alpaca showing, though interesting to those in the know, can be a bit dull to the public.

Teignbridge District Council alongside Newton Abbot market traders are supporting the high profile Love Your Local Market campaign led by the National Association of British Market Authorities which runs from Wednesday 13 May to Wednesday 27 May.

Phonic FM posts open call to artists

This September and October, England will host Rugby World Cup 2015. Three of the tournament’s matches will be played at the Sandy Park ground in Exeter.

With support from Exeter City Council, Phonic FM is inviting proposals for original creative audio portraits of Exeter and its communities, in some way exploring the reach and influence of the Rugby World Cup 2015 matches in the city.

These hour-long works will be broadcast on Phonic FM around the time of the matches at Sandy Park. They will also be posted online, shared with other broadcasters and deposited for posterity...

Serious collision on edge of Exeter

Emegency services have been called following a serious road traffic collision on Tedburn Road, Whitstone (the old A30) after two cars have left the road at around 12.30pm today.

It is believed that there are multiple injuries and the road is currently closed between the garage near Ide and Tedburn Road as police, paramedics, fire and air ambulance attending the scene.

The A30 itself is open.

Police are appealing for witnesses and would like to speak to anyone who was in the area or witnessed the crash to contact them on 101 quoting police log 327 for the 12th May...

Police probe unexplained deaths

Police, fire and ambulance attended a property in the village of Dalwood, near Axminster, East Devon at around 3.10pm on Sunday 10 May.

On arrival they discovered a 58-year-old female and 64-year-old male, both were deceased.

Detective Inspector Gregg Dawe from the Major Crime Investigation Team said: “Officers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths of a 58-year-old female and 64-year-old man who were found in a property near the village of Dalwood in East Devon on Sunday.

The independent Local Government Boundary Commission for England is asking people across Devon to comment on its draft proposals for new county council division boundaries.
