The high standard of diabetes care provided to inpatients at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital has continued to improve according to the latest results of the National Inpatient Diabetes Audit (NADIA).

NADIA looks at the care of all inpatients with diabetes on a single day in all Trusts across England and Wales. It focuses on key staffing and organisational issues, clinical outcome measures and patient satisfaction levels.

Improvements to the A379 Sandy Park Junction in Exeter have been completed ahead of schedule. The junction has been upgraded from a ‘left-in, left-out’ system to a signalised junction that now also allows right turns in and out of the site. The £2.5 million scheme improves access to Sandy Park rugby ground and David Lloyd leisure centre as well as planned developments in the Newcourt area of the city.

Cardboard, plastics, cartons and small electrical items added to weekly recycling collections and grey wheeled waste bins to be collected every three weeks

Key information is being sent out next week (w/b April 24) to around 51,000 homes in East Devon giving details of a new improved recycling collection service which is being introduced by East Devon District Council from Monday June 12.

Last weekend it was the turn of Honiton Gymnastics Club’s stars of the future to display their prowess, as 52 gymnasts competed at the South West Club Development Championships in Sherborne, Dorset.

The results included two golds, a silver and three bronze medals.

Taking top honours were Grade 2 Group Daisy Spiller, Abigail Wilson & Libby Wray and Grade 1 Women’s Pair Chloe Hutsby and Hettie Behan. Chloe and Hettie raised the level even further, taking the top score of the whole day out of 133 partnerships.

Eight fire crews have been tackling a blaze overnight in East Devon.

Fire Control received a call from a member of the public advising that they had a fire at their thatched property in Woodmanton, Woodbury.

Eight pumping appliances were mobilised, these included two from Exmouth station, one from Middlemoor station, one from Budleigh station, one from Topsham station, two from Exeter Danes Castle station and one from Sidmouth station.
