Guitar indie-pop band Pale Waves and Mercury-nominated The Big Moon are the latest acts heading to the south Devon countryside for the county’s biggest music event this summer.

The bands are joining the line-up for seven-time GRAMMY Award winning Canadian / American artist Alanis Morissette ’s headline show with special guest musical powerhouse Skunk Anansie at TK Maxx presents Live At Powderham on Friday June 26.

Exeter Homes Trust, formerly known as The Exeter Municipal Charity, is hosting an event on 12 May to celebrate the completion of remodelling work at the historic Magdalen Cottages and the organisation’s rebrand.

The 150-year old Grade II listed cottages, situated in the St Leonard’s area of the city, have undergone an 18-month programme of work to provide residents with 13 remodelled apartments, across two floors. The launch will be the last public engagement for Lord Mayor, Councillor Cynthia Thompson, before she steps down from office, after a successful 12-month term.

Work to begin on £3.5m stadium improvements at Exeter City FC

Exeter City Football Club has today confirmed that work will start on its stadium improvement project this summer - after more than two years of complex negotiations.

Contracts to commence the work have been signed and developers plan to begin construction next month.

Julian Tagg, Exeter City FC chairman, said: ‘We are delighted to announce that contracts have finally been signed for the stadium improvement works at St James Park. This is the culmination of over two-and-a-half years of incredibly complex negotiations.’

Families have the chance to try a range of water based activities at the Grand Western Canal Country Park’s ’Fun on the Water' day later this month.

Stand-up paddle boarding, rowing boat and Canadian Canoe hire sessions as well as model boating and pond dipping are on offer.

The event is being held at the Grand Western Canal Basin on Saturday 13 May 2017 between 11am and 3pm.

Charity to hold celebration of unique mill heritage

Devon Wildlife Trust is giving people to explore Exeter’s last working watermill at the charity’s annual National Mills Weekend family event.

On Sunday 14 May visitors will be given the opportunity to witness the historic mill in action, as volunteer millers start the water wheel turning and grind grain into flour. Come along to the Exeter Foodbank Roadshow being held in Beacon Heath at The Beacon Community Centre on Friday 12 May.

The roadshow runs from 10am – 12.30pm, there will be tea, coffee and cake available all morning, with a short presentation at 11am.

On Tuesday 2nd May Devonshire Freemasons' Provincial Grand Master the Rt. W. Bro Ian Kingsbury, accompanied by his wife Toni, visited the offices of Devon Air Ambulance in Exeter.

They can be seen here presenting Fundraising Manager Tracy Owen with a certificate representing the donation for £4,000 given by Devonshire Freemasons through the Masonic Charitable Foundation.

Volunteers are needed for an event to help clean up the Exe Estuary.

People are asked to meet at the Imperial Recreation Ground slipway in Exmouth at 2pm on Saturday 13 May, to spend a couple of hours cleaning up the estuary.

Staff from the local McDonald’s will be on hand to offer refreshments prior to the clean.

Jewellery taken in Budleigh burglary

Police are appealing for witnesses after a substantial amount of gold jewellery was taken during a burglary at an address in Budleigh Salterton.

Offenders entered the home on Armytage Road in Budleigh Salterton on Monday 1 May 2017 between 11.30am and 4pm.

They managed to escape with a large amount of Indian wedding gold jewellery.

Police are investigating the burglary and would like to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard any suspicious activity in the area at the time of the offence.
