Guitar indie-pop band Pale Waves and Mercury-nominated The Big Moon are the latest acts heading to the south Devon countryside for the county’s biggest music event this summer.

The bands are joining the line-up for seven-time GRAMMY Award winning Canadian / American artist Alanis Morissette ’s headline show with special guest musical powerhouse Skunk Anansie at TK Maxx presents Live At Powderham on Friday June 26.

FORCE funds new equipment to celebrate 30th anniversary

Women across Devon are set to benefit as FORCE Cancer Charity celebrates its 30th anniversary this year with a major equipment purchase.

To mark this milestone, the Exeter-based charity is funding a new advance in the treatment of women with cancer at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

FORCE has provided nearly £100,000 to buy a new surgical device, only available in the UK since 2015.

It is designed to save lives, reduce unnecessary treatment and cut costs to the hospital.

RD&E launches new campaign to end 'pyjama paralysis' and boost patient wellbeing

The RD&E is encouraging some of its inpatients to keep active in hospital and swap their PJs for everyday clothes as part of a new campaign to promote their independence.

The ‘Your Road to Wellbeing’ campaign will encourage patients to stay physically and mentally strong during short stays in hospital so they’re in the best possible shape to complete their recovery at home after they leave.

Bridge Road in Exeter closed this weekend

Road users are being reminded that Bridge Road in Exeter will be closed from 10pm tomorrow (Friday 23 June) until 5am on Monday 26 June.

The closure will enable improvement work to continue including the reconstruction of pavements, resurfacing and the installation of new lighting columns and safety barriers. Work will also be carried out on the Countess Wear Flood Relief structure.

Mortgage and private rental repossessions on the increase

Leading local advice charity, Citizens Advice Exeter, is expressing its concern as mortgage cases listed at Exeter County Court rose by 19% and private rented sector cases rose by 9% in the last year. This is comparing the year ending 31st March 2017 to the same period ending in 2016.

Across all housing sectors, there was an overall decrease of 0.5% in the total number of cases listed. Missing Killerton mansion may have been found

Archaeologists working with the National Trust’s Killerton estate believe they may have found the location of the lost Killerton mansion that was started in 1775, but never completed.
