When people think about dementia, they often think about memory loss, diagnosis or the practical aspects of care.

What is spoken about far less is the emotional toll of trying to navigate support systems whilst also coping with the reality of someone you care about living with dementia.

Living Options Heritage Ability training project will help make East Devon attractions more accessible to disabled people

East Devon District Council Countryside staff and volunteers who work at Seaton Wetlands and who engage with members of the public as part of their work, have been given disability and deaf awareness training through Heritage Ability, a project designed to help sites become more accessible. South West accountants and financial planners Old Mill and Somerset based charity St. Margaret's Hospice have raised more than £15,000 by holding a 'Glitter Ball'. Police investigate suspected drug-related death of two Devon teenagers

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of two Devon teenagers in Plymouth.

Police were informed by ambulance at around 1.40am on Saturday 9 December of two men unconscious at Pryzm nightclub in Plymouth.

Two 19-year-old men, one from Okehampton and one from Newton Abbot were taken to Derriford Hospital where they both later died.

Next of kin have been informed, but formal ID for the pair has yet to have taken place.

An 18-year-old man is currently in police custody and awaits questioning in relation to this matter.

Devon’s Beach Schools South West company – which puts the coast onto the educational curriculum – has been honoured at 10 Downing Street after being recognised by an organisation promoting small businesses.

The not-for-profit community company is among 100 across the UK chosen by the organisation Small Business Saturday, which supports and promotes smaller companies.

Van owners to be extra vigilant after spate of thefts

Police in North and West Devon are warning van owners to be extra vigilant following a spate of van thefts in North Devon.

Over the last few weeks there have been several thefts of tools and other trade equipment which have been left in vans. Officers are advising the public not to leave their tools and equipment for prolonged periods in their vans, especially overnight.

The first incident occurred between Sunday 3 December at 10.30am and 8am on Monday 4 December 2017. The incident took place on North Street in Braunton.
