When people think about dementia, they often think about memory loss, diagnosis, or the practical aspects of care.

What is spoken about far less is the emotional toll of trying to navigate support systems, whilst also coping with the reality of someone you care about living with dementia.

Exeter College today announced that a record breaking 24 students are holding offers to study at Oxford and Cambridge starting in 2018. A total of 17 students have been offered places at Oxford and seven at Cambridge in a diverse range of subjects from Medicine to Law. An outstanding five students were offered places to study Medicine at either Oxford or Cambridge, two of the most sought after medical programmes in the country. Week long closure of Iron Bridge in Exeter

Iron Bridge in Exeter will be closed next week for routine maintenance to be carried out.

The road will be closed between Paul Street and Dinham Road from Monday 29 January until Friday 2 February to enable new width restriction bollards and signs to be installed. The bridge deck will also be inspected during the closure with trial holes being excavated in order to inform future improvement work to the structure and its drainage. Police appeal after woman robbed at cash point in Exeter

Officers are appealing for witnesses following a theft outside the Co-operative bank on Exeter High Street.

The incident took place on Friday 19 January between 11:20pm and 11:45pm. The victim, an 18-year-old woman, was approached by two men after withdrawing a quantity of money from the cash point in Exeter High Street.

The cash was taken from the victim’s hands by the two offenders before they made off.

Rotary in the South West Peninsula have agreed a partnership with the South West Youth Games Trust to support their events through to the 2019 season. Rotary have previously supported the Games in 2015 and 2016 and have renewed their support for 2018 and 2019. Great New Year start to recycling in East Devon

East Devon households have made a great start to the New Year by recycling a huge 61% of their waste.

That means that, thanks to an extended recycling service introduced by the district council over the last 12 months, residents are now recycling almost 20% more than they did this time last year.
