Topsham’s history takes centre stage with the unveiling of new heritage boards and a Maritime Trail—an exciting project that’s earned the support of the Earl of Devon.

The aim of the new heritage information boards and trail is to connect visitors and residents with the town’s extraordinary past.

Through the project led by Topsham Museum, the trail and boards tell a story from Roman occupation, through Atlantic fishing ventures and a thriving wool trade, and across centuries of maritime shipbuilding and commerce.

The latest research by SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, has found that more than two in five (41%) veterans aged 25-45 have felt lonely, isolated, or suicidal since leaving the Armed Forces. With one in five (22%) veterans stating that they would feel less lonely if they had a stronger support group. A classic boost for cancer support in Devon

The 2017 Classics Galore! concert - Exeter’s very own night at the proms - raised a record sum of £21,000 for FORCE Cancer Charity.

To celebrate, sponsors, performers, organisers and representatives from the charity gathered at the FORCE Support and Information Centre for the cheque presentation.

Classics Galore! has been staged at the University of Exeter Great Hall every two years since 2007.

Profits from the tenth anniversary of this hugely popular musical extravaganza take the total raised for FORCE to nearly £90,000.

Swimmers: Make a splash for charity

PEOPLE in the South West are being urged to sign up to Swimathon, the world’s biggest annual fundraising swim, to raise money for two great causes, Cancer Research UK and Marie Curie. Swimmers of all ages and abilities are being invited to take part in the annual sponsored event in pools across the region and help raise money for both charities. This year, there are lots of ways to take part in Swimathon. The big Swimathon weekend takes place from Friday, April 27 to Sunday, April 29. AN explosion of colour, positivity and pride will take place in Exeter on Saturday, May 12 - and everyone is invited to come out and and celebrate.

Exeter Pride is one of the South West's biggest celebrations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT+) communities in the region.

Saturday 27th January saw the performance of a new work, SHOAH, by composer Philip Arkwright, Master of Music at Buckfast Abbey at Exeter’s Mint Methodist Church as part of the commemoration of Holocaust Memorial Day, the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau on that date in 1945.

Police expand infrared lighting on Speed detection vans

Devon and Cornwall Police have recently introduced Infrared ‘low Light’ camera technology within Plymouth and have now expanded their innovative equipment across the Force area.
