Gandy Street is the place to be on the First Thursdays of the month this summer

First Thursdays is a new event you won’t want to miss.

From June to September, Gandy Street will come alive on the first Thursday of each month, with a festival atmosphere in the early evening.

The first event takes place on Thursday 4 June, 5–8pm. Expect late-night shopping, live music, street entertainment, extended opening hours at cultural venues and a cocktail trail. All your favourite businesses on Gandy Street and in the surrounding area will be open, including:

Libraries Unlimited, the charity that runs Devon and Torbay’s library services, has today launched its new mental health reading initiative, in line with the national launch held in London.

The “life-saving” 2018 ‘Reading Well for mental health’ titles by The Reading Agency and Society of Chief Librarians were announced on 5 June at a flagship event at the Wellcome Trust.

It’s very easy to over-share on social media nowadays and it seems a fair number of us are being duped into doling out our card details, bank details and private addresses without a second thought.

New research, commissioned by Nationwide Building Society, has revealed that an overwhelming 83% of young people have encountered people over-sharing personal details on social media. Despite this, over a third of young Brits said they haven’t set their social media accounts to fully private, allowing people they don’t know to view their profile.

Carers are being encouraged to stay healthy and connected through a number of events planned across the county next week to mark national Carers Week.

Devon Communities Together announces merger with Devon Senior Voice

Independent charity Devon Communities Together has formally taken over the running of Devon Senior Voice to ensure the organisation is able to continue in its valuable role as the voice of Devon’s older people.

A number of striking Silhouettes have appeared around Exeter to mark the centenary of the end of the First World War.
