Guitar indie-pop band Pale Waves and Mercury-nominated The Big Moon are the latest acts heading to the south Devon countryside for the county’s biggest music event this summer.

The bands are joining the line-up for seven-time GRAMMY Award winning Canadian / American artist Alanis Morissette ’s headline show with special guest musical powerhouse Skunk Anansie at TK Maxx presents Live At Powderham on Friday June 26.

An app which gives people real-time information about their local urgent NHS services has been shortlisted in two of the most prestigious national awards: the Health Service Journal (HSJ) Awards and the Times Higher Education (THE) Awards. The app, NHSquicker, shows people in Devon and Cornwall up-to-date waiting times for the five closest emergency departments and minor injuries units, as well as how long it would take them to get there, based on the user’s location. Pedal power aiming to raise £5,000 for local charity

A nine-strong team of Devonians are cycling the length of the country to raise funds for Exeter-based charity Rainbow Living.

It’s an eclectic group, ranging from experienced cyclists to complete novices, and including four of pensionable age! A new survey has revealed that almost half (49%) of people in the South West would describe themselves as a materialist! ​ Our possessions have the ability to fill us with happiness and give us a sense of achievement, so it can be hard to let them go. Five years of Help to Buy has helped 650 homebuyers in Exeter

Figures just released for the first full five years of Help to Buy in Exeter have revealed that almost 650 homebuyers have used the government scheme to buy their new home.

The figures show that 649 people in the city have taken advantage of the scheme since it was launched in April 2013.

Citizens Advice Devon is urging local organisations which support or work with benefits claimants to ensure their staff and volunteers are fully up to speed with the new Universal Credit system as it continues its roll-out across the South West. The charitable trust behind the project to restore and invigorate an historic house on the outskirts of Exeter are looking for new trustees with specialist skills.

Poltimore House is an 18th century Grade II* listed country house which was owned by the distinguished Bampfylde family for around 500 years. Since it was sold off in 1921, it has variously been a girls’ school, a college for boys, a private hospital, part of the NHS and a retirement home.

Simon Arnold, a volunteer for the National Trust, has started a challenge to play nearly every working piano or organ at a National Trust property in the south west, all to raise money to help keep music alive in these historic places. Tributes paid to teenager after fatal crash

Tributes have been paid to a 16-year-old boy who has died following a serious collision in Exeter on Thursday [13 September].

Ben Davies, from Exeter, suffered life-threatening injuries after his bicycle was in collision with a silver Ford Fiesta at the junction of Tythe Barn Way and Pinn Lane around 7.15pm.

He was taken to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital where he died from his injuries on Saturday morning [15 September] surrounded by his family; organs of the Exeter teenager were donated following his death.
