Guitar indie-pop band Pale Waves and Mercury-nominated The Big Moon are the latest acts heading to the south Devon countryside for the county’s biggest music event this summer.

Devon residents and communities are once again being called on to nominate their unsung recycling heroes, whose efforts have helped the county remain one of the greenest in the UK.

The Sixth Recycle Devon Thank You Awards will be held on Friday 22 March 2019. An innovative new street league will be launched across Devon and Cornwall aimed at the growing urban sport scene.

Street Series South West will feature skateboarding, scootering and freestyle BMX events at facilities across the region next year. A former Mayor of Exmouth, Cllr Bill Nash, has died following a short illness.

Cllr Nash was an East Devon District councillor for the Exmouth Town ward and an Exmouth Town councillor for the Littleham ward. He was 77. He was elected to East Devon District Council in 2015 and was a member of the scrutiny, and audit and governance committees. He was also a member of the joint board of LED Leisure from 2016 and of the Exmouth Regeneration Board from this year. A new Public Space Protection Order (PSPO), aimed at reducing irresponsible dog ownership and making Teignbridge an even cleaner and greener place to be has been approved by Teignbridge’s Executive today.

The PSPO will protect public parks and open spaces against people who do not pick up after, or control, their dogs properly. It is planned to be enforced from 1 January 2019.

On Thursday 25th October Living Options Devon (LOD) launched the Time To Talk project, which aims to tackle one of the most prominent issues faced by countless people with disabilities throughout the country: that of isolation and loneliness. East Devon planners approve new cycling and walking trail in East Devon

On Tuesday 30th October, East Devon District Council’s Development Management Committee approved a planning application for a new three metre-wide surfaced multi-user trail at Clyst St Mary, from the bridge over the Grindle Brook at Winslade Park, to Kenniford Farm in Clyst St George.

A total length of 1.1 kilometres, it will form part of the Clyst Valley Trail. When complete the Trail will be a 13-km (8 mile) commuting and leisure route, linking the Exe Estuary Trail at Darts Farm with Killerton House and Park by way of an existing multi-use trail from Broadclyst.

Digital radio listeners in Cornwall and Devon are being urged to retune their DAB digital radios to receive 19 further radio stations on DAB digital radio for the time, following the launch of five new transmitters serving the two counties.

An official ceremony has been held to mark the re-opening of the A379 at Slapton.

Dr Sarah Wollaston MP was among the guests at the event, which was well attended by representatives from the local community and local businesses.
