Work to start on Heavitree Road bus improvements

Improvement work to enhance bus services on Heavitree Road in Exeter will get underway next month (February).

The scheme, which will start on Monday 2 February, involves the construction of a new traffic island and installation of a new set of traffic signals at the end of the outbound (eastbound) bus lane between Grendon Road and Polsloe Road/Barrack Road.

Tributes paid to teenager after fatal crash

Tributes have been paid to a 16-year-old boy who has died following a serious collision in Exeter on Thursday [13 September].

Ben Davies, from Exeter, suffered life-threatening injuries after his bicycle was in collision with a silver Ford Fiesta at the junction of Tythe Barn Way and Pinn Lane around 7.15pm.

He was taken to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital where he died from his injuries on Saturday morning [15 September] surrounded by his family; organs of the Exeter teenager were donated following his death.

Six men will be embarking on a 670-mile cycle trip across Europe next month, with the help of Exeter City FC, in memory of a friend and to raise much-needed funds and awareness for three charities.

East Devon will again welcome hundreds of runners next year as the UK’s only marathon exclusively for women returns to the county. Entries are open for the third Women Can race on Sunday May 26 2019.
