Work to start on Heavitree Road bus improvements

Improvement work to enhance bus services on Heavitree Road in Exeter will get underway next month (February).

The scheme, which will start on Monday 2 February, involves the construction of a new traffic island and installation of a new set of traffic signals at the end of the outbound (eastbound) bus lane between Grendon Road and Polsloe Road/Barrack Road.

An award-winning illusionist from Torbay is promising a magical time for all when she launches new exercise classes for older people and those with limited mobility.

Anne George, who performed on stage for more than 40 years as Anna Merlina and who is also a trained choreographer and actor, is one of the newest instructors to complete training in Devon for endorsed training provider Move It or Lose It, which offers exercise pioneering programmes for the over 60s.

Motorists travelling from Topsham to Exeter are being urged to allow extra time for their journey over the next four weeks due to urgent repairs being carried out on an unstable wall in Station Road.

From Sunday (7 October) the city-bound lane of Station Road, Topsham, will be closed to enable essential repairs to get underway on a Grade 2 listed wall next to the road. Andi takes to a tandem in support of fellow cancer patients

Police dog handler Andi Darbey from Exeter took part in the FORCE Autumn Series cycle ride on Sunday, just 48 hours after her latest round of chemotherapy for breast cancer.

Andi was diagnosed in June and in July she began a treatment plan that involves chemo, surgery and radiotherapy.

But she is determined to stay active and continue raising money for a charity she has supported for many years and is now supporting her.

An innovative new project funded by Sport England which encourages more Deaf people to be active and gain the skills to lead activities is launching on 6th October at Haven Banks in Exeter.
