Work to start on Heavitree Road bus improvements

Improvement work to enhance bus services on Heavitree Road in Exeter will get underway next month (February).

The scheme, which will start on Monday 2 February, involves the construction of a new traffic island and installation of a new set of traffic signals at the end of the outbound (eastbound) bus lane between Grendon Road and Polsloe Road/Barrack Road.

Action packed official opening of new East Devon skate park

Now that construction of East Devon District Council’s brand new skate park at Phear Park in Exmouth is complete, the council and the skate park’s designers Maverick Industries Ltd, would like to invite skateboarders, as well as scooter and BMX riders, to a special opening ‘jam’ event during the autumn half term break on Friday 26 October, from 12pm to 4pm, to help celebrate the opening of this fun facility.

Consultation planned for next stage of Exeter cycle route

A consultation is being launched on proposals for the next stage of a strategic cycle route in Exeter.

Plans for the next section of the E4 cycle route to connect Pinhoe Road to St Katherine’s Way, have been drawn up by Devon County Council and will be available to view online from Monday 15 October to Monday 19 November on the Have Your Say website.

When the entire E4 route is fully developed it will eventually connect developments in the Exeter and East Devon Growth Point to the city centre and Exeter University.

Patients across Devon will be able to make routine GP appointments in evenings and at weekends from this month.

The aim of the GP improved access service is to make it easier for people to get an appointment at a time that suits them.

This new scheme is an extension of the usual GP practice services that patients across Devon will be used to – it is not a walk-in service. Patients will still need to contact their GP practices directly to make an appointment if they want to see a GP between the longer opening hours during weekday evenings, weekends and bank holidays....

The Lord Lieutenant of Devon has appointed the Countess of Arran MBE DL to be the new Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Devon following the sad death of the previous incumbent, Sir John Cave Bt, who died in June.

People who live in Devon and Cornwall may be getting a text message from the Environment Agency this week to let them know they have been automatically registered for free flood warnings.

On 9th of October The Ground UP will raise the roof on their first natural building programme, erecting the reciprocal roof made from locally grown larch and using traditional joinery techniques and hand tools; on the grounds of Embercombe an educational centre in the Teign Valley 7 miles south of Exeter.
