Exeter Cathedral to Host City’s Largest Volunteer Fair

Exeter Community Initiatives is delighted to announce the return of the Exeter Volunteer Fair, taking place on Thursday 23 April 2026, 11am–2pm at Exeter Cathedral.

This free-to-attend, drop-in event will bring together 75 local charities and community organisations, offering residents the chance to explore hundreds of volunteering opportunities in one place. With over 800 people expected to attend, the fair is the largest volunteering event of its kind in Exeter.

An exciting new event comes to Devon for the first time later this year when Hospiscare hosts Wild Tri, and its big brother, Wild Tri Extreme.

This will be a wild take on a triathlon, and promises to be an exhilarating experience that will challenge hard-core extreme event enthusiasts, as well as novices and those who like their events just a tad less challenging. South Zeal welcomes lifeline to Devon Air Ambulance

South Tawton Parish Council is delighted to announce that the Night Landing Site at South Zeal Recreation Ground is now operational. The facility allows the Air Ambulance to land during the ‘hours of darkness’, which is of vital importance for such a rural parish.

Storybook Dads receives donation from libraries

Storybook Dads, the Devon-based charity that works to support prisoners in maintaining relationships with their children through stories and reading, has received £1,000 from fellow charity Libraries Unlimited.

Chief Executive of Libraries Unlimited, Ciara Eastell OBE and Vice Chair of the Board of trustees, David Lockwood, visited the charity at its headquarters at Her Majesty’s Prison (HMP) Channings Wood to present the team with the cheque and have a tour of the facilities.

Battersea raises thousands at the first ever Muddy Dog Challenge in Exeter

Over 700 animal lovers and their dogs came together at Powderham Castle in Exeter last weekend (Saturday 13 April) to take part in Battersea Dogs & Cats Home’s Muddy Dog Challenge. The event, which is proudly supported by Seresto flea and tick control collar, has raised around £70,000 so far, which will go towards the vital care of the thousands of homeless animals that Battersea helps every year.

It was the first time the Muddy Dog Challenge has come to Exeter which involves participants and their dogs jumping, crawling and wading through various fun obstacles.

Organisers have unveiled the latest event taking place at this summer’s Exeter Festival.

The Exeter Festival Funday in the Park is to feature a day of entertainment and activity for all the family in Northernhay Gardens.

Hospiscare Men’s Walk raises £67,000 with money still rolling in!

Instead of snow, it was high winds and rain that tested the ever growing band of men who took part in Hospiscare ’s Men’s Walk this year. Just under 1000 resilient men signed up for the challenge, making it Hospiscare’s most successful Men’s Walk to date.

The weather conditions were again challenging but spirits were high as the walkers set off from the Double Locks pub. Along the route they were buoyed by an amazing team of dedicate volunteers offering support and encouragement.
